mamborobert
CM108 (Thai) and other media outlets are reopporting a fire at the Tarin Hotel this morning that necessitated the evacuation of 200 plus guests (mostly Chinese). While most guests managed to get out, it seems a dozen or more had to make it to the roof top becuase there was too much smoke in the internal fire escape stairs below their floors once they were alerted.. Good that no one was injured and seems to have been a quick and effective repsonse from local emergency authorities. I gather the hotel is empty now. DipStick
Hotel fires are a nightmare to be in. Now this may be coincidental, but the OP stated mainly Chinese guests, and the Chinese are notorious for smoking in bed. I have been to many hotels in China where there are warning signs about smoking in bed yet 99% of the bedside tables have cigarette burn marks on the surface. By the way even brand name hotels suffer this and even noticed in non smoking rooms. Just a thought !
