Edge Network Help

Im heading to bangkok next week, and will be using a seirra wireless edge card for internet access.

Will be situated very close to bumrungrad hospital.

I have never used gprs or edge connections before, a bit confused on how to start.

Can i buy a normal DTAC sim card at the local seven/eleven and get a monthly prepaid edge system enabled? I've read something along the lines of 1000baht/unlimited usage. Would that require i load 1000 baht credit onto the card?

Is AIS recomended over DTAC?

Any help in the basic procedure of how to get started would be appreciated.

thanks.

I've got a Dtac prepaid card, but I get deducted 1 Baht/minute for my gprs connection.

The support system is almost uncomprehensible, with the automated system not having any english language options...

On AIS (one2call) it is much easier. Do nothing and pay 1 Baht/minute for gprs or Just dial *138 and you can walk to an English automated system, enabling you to choose between monthly packages, 10 hours for X Baht, 20 hours for X Baht ensofort... Just choose, you'll get an sms response and 15 minutes later everything works...
