BANGKOK: -- Police are scratching their heads after an Udon man was found buried in a pile of sand at the Phase 2 building site at Suvarnabhumi airport.

Somjit, 34, from the north eastern province was found buried in the sand on Sunday. He had blunt trauma to his body, a broken leg and his face had been disfigured in an apparent attempt to conceal his identity.

It is thought that he may have been killed elsewhere and transported in the load of sand and dumped at the airport.

Yesterday his father Phoon, 65, arrived from their hometown to express his surprise that his son was in Bangkok.

He should have been in Hat Yai in Songkhla where he tended buffalos used in the sport of "kwai chon" (a form of buffalo fighting popular in the south).

Phoon said that his son had phoned on the 7th of November to say he would be coming home to Udon. But the next he heard was on Monday when police phoned to say he was dead.

Investigations continue.

The BiB aren't given a chance.

What readers should, but apparently don't, factor In, Is that the press are no experts on anything......writing stories that attract readers Is their business, and If the facts accord with the story, then that's a bonus for readers.

Being super critical of the RTP on a newspaper or television report Is short sighted.....at best!

Obviously the jumped onto the back of the truck for a free ride home. Breaking his leg and hitting himself as he was feeling sad about his miserable existence. The truck driver emptied his truck not knowing there was a man beating himself up on the back. The man then suffocated and buried himself deep under the sand because he was cold.

Yes, when they are not picking their nose !!

I feel somewhat sorry for his 65 year old father who has lost a son in suspicious circumstances. I hope the poor guy has family support.
