PHUKET:-- Two Thai men were arrested last night (Nov 30) for a snatch and grab theft in Patong which left three people, including two Chinese tourists, injured.

At around 8:30pm last night, Patong Police under the command of Police Chief Col Chaiwat Uikum arrested Sarawuth Rattanaprasert, 21, and Tharawuth Hirankhakorn, 19, who were found to be in possession of a stolen iPhone 6.

Police seized the iPhone 6 together with a Trang registered Honda Wave as evidence of the crime.

In a press release issued by police it was stated that patrol officers were alerted of a snatch and grab incident on Sai Namyen Rd at 7:15pm.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found Chinese tourists, Ms Yu Sun, 32, and Mr Jiang Yimeng, 31, running down the road chasing the suspected thieves.

They told police that three people on a motorbike drove next to them and suddenly one of the passengers snatched the iPhone from MsYu’s hand which caused them to crash and collide into another motorbike belong to Ms Wassana Sareepae.

Do you really think there is any sort of policy ?  I can't be bothered to look through all the recent news stories but I seem to remember some photos show faces, some do not.

Yes, I remember reading about a new policy that prohibits publishing the faces a few weeks ago.

Like many Thai policies, it's administered inconsistently. Immediately after the announcement of the policy, most news stories obscured the faces, or didn't publish the photos at all for a week or so. Unless the suspect was very lo-so.

Upon arrival at the scene ...

Ahh, of course they did -- no shots were fired. Otherwise it would have been: "Upon arrival at the scene, Chinese tourists found police running down the road."
