More than one ton of ivory, pangolin scales and tiger bones discovered at a dry port in Phnom Penh’s Por Senchey district last weekend was determined to have been  shipped from a Vietnamese company, according to an official yesterday. Seng Vichetr, a municipal Forestry Administration official, said that various forces collaborated to inspect the shipment, which had been hidden inside timber and stocked at the Royal Railway Phnom Penh Dry Port in Trapaing Krasaing commune.

The team consisted of officials from the Forestry Administration, customs, National Military Police, economic police, municipal court and local police.   Mr. Vichetr said that about 1,700 kilograms of ivory, pangolin scales and bones from other wild animals had been seized.

“The mixed competent authorities continued to inspect the shipment at the dry port from December 17 to 21,” he told Khmer Times yesterday. “As result, we found and seized about 1,700 kilograms of ivory, pangolin scales and bones from other wild animals from the dry port.”
