Ministry: 90% of Garment Drivers Are Unlicensed

The Interior Ministry has claimed that more than 90 percent of the drivers transporting workers to garment and textile factories do not have licenses. The revelation came yesterday at the end of the annual meeting for the Public Works and Transport Ministry.
 

During the closing ceremony for the meeting at the Chaktomuk Conference Hall in Phnom Penh, Interior Minister Sar Kheng listed a litany of figures related to the kingdom’s traffic situation. More than 40 percent of traffic accidents involving garment workers, he said, were caused by speeding. Many of the trucks were also carrying too many passengers, which makes the vehicles harder to control at high speeds.
 

Most drivers of tourist buses, according to the Interior Ministry, did have licenses but often broke road laws by driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. “In 2017, we will review and solve this issue,” he said. “The overloaded truck problem will be eliminated also.

So why does the RTP not have a blitz Thailand wide. Do some real work for a change.  If they know of these figures, why are they so damned lazy.

Their talking Cambodia but you make a good point. Here it would be nice to know what percentage of drivers have a license. You have to be aware of that little news switcheroo that takes place from time to time.
