TRANG: -- Police are investigating an incident where shots were fired at a recently opened curry and tea shop in downtown Trang last night.

Several shots - believed to be from a shotgun - hit a pick-up truck and the windows of the house in the Nataluang sub-district.

House owner Praminphan Namkaew, 58, said that she was inside with her husband when they heard shots and the alarm on their pick-up went off. She said they had only moved in three months ago and had opened a shop selling curry and tea downstairs.

She told cops that the family had never had a problem with anyone but only last week two men on a motorcycle had been driving about the area and had come to eat there. They were looking all over the shop and behaving so suspiciously, she said, that this prompted the family to install CCTV in front of the property, reports Daily News.

This had only just been finished hours before the attack last night. Praminphan also said that there was another shooting incident of a similar kind reported by neighbors in the middle of last year.

Police said they believe the intention of the shooters was not to kill anyone but was threatening in nature.

They are studying the CCTV and interviewing the family again to try to get a lead in the case.

...wow....competition....???

Maybe that's where the term 'tea money' comes from.

One would need a lot of ammo to take a shot at the curry shops in Pattaya these days ! and why are they charging such ridiculous prices ? Almost 200 Bht for a small bowl of chicken madras that cannot have more than 5 Baht,s worth of chicken in it ! I have a feeling that indians do not pay these prices on the menu, maybe a 50% automatic discount !

From the names in the article, I don't think we are talking Indian curry here - just the generic use of the word to describe meat in a sauce of varying intensity - most probably a Thai curry in this case.

Miscommunication. Local mafia failed to explain about protection dues.

All it takes is one unhappy customer forced to occupy the toilet for a day or two. Thank you for your frank feedback.
