Jailhouse romp ends in pregnancy

Two drug dealers were able to have sex in Pailin provincial prison and staff only found out when one became pregnant and had an illegal abortion. Heng Chandara, chief of the prison’s correctional office, said: “It is true. Both of them were convicted for dealing drugs and had a relationship.”
 

Sin Thoeun, chief of the operation office who questioned the pair, said they confessed to having sex and said it was consensual. The breach of security was the responsibility of unit officials, he said. The couple could find a place to hide and have sex because of careless management by the officials in charge, he said.
 

The male convict was identified as Som Bol and the female as Eang Lum Orng. Ms. Lum Orng was serving a three-year term and Mr. Bol two years.
