BANGKOK: -- As flood situation in the South is easing gradually and flood-stricken residents began to clean up their houses and authorities are assessing flood damages to deliver assistance to the affected people, but new round of flooding in the South could be expected as heavy rain is forecast at weekend.

Warning of more heavy rain is issued by the Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute (HAII).

HAII director-general Mr Royon Jitdon yesterdsy warned that a low pressure area is approaching from the South China Sea and will arrive in  Malaysia on Monday January 16.

The arrival of this pressure will affect four provinces in the south, namely Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, and Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Heavy rains could affect some areas of theses provinces where flooding is improving.

He said the low pressure will cause scattered rains a few days before it disperses.
