NLA to probe CCTV procurement deals

BANGKOK: -- The National Legislative Assembly will set up a fact-finding committee to look into an allegation from the US Justice Department that there was corruption in the parliament’s procurement of CCTV systems about a decade ago.

NLA president Pornpetch Vichitcholachai said Tuesday that the parliament made two CCTV procurement orders – 29 million baht worth of CCTV system during 2005-2006 and 26-million baht deal during 2007-2009.

He said, so far, no evidence of irregularities had been found regarding the two procurement deals, but, nevertheless, a new probe would be launched in response to the US Justice Department’s allegation.

So the NLA will investigate itself.

Shouldn't the NAAC do the investigation since it would be directed at government officials and/or principles acting at their direction? It was the NLA that approved the contract.

Nothing to see here, this isn't the "corruption" you're looking for.

Waves hand.

Curious how did the US justice department get involved? Most electrical items I buy here the clerk plugs them in before I pay and then I am on my own. Maybe they were battery operated and they forgot to like the movie says "Batteries Not Included"
