Hello,

I am an Indian and i was studying in Bangkok from last 6 years. I am 26 years old. I was studying here untill now on Non-Immigrant education Visa. Now my studies are over and my visa is ending on 6th Feb,2007. My dad has a company here in Bangkok for over 20 years. He got 6 employees and out of them he has 2 thais & 4 foreigners to whom he provided workpermit somehow, which i am not really sure how.Now i want to extend my visa but i graduated last month so i will not be getting visa anymore from my university. And it is highly unlikely that i can get a job with a workpermit within this short period of time. So now i want to extend my visa somehow. It could be getting workpermit from my dad's company or extending my current visa somehow. Now my dad is saying giving me workpermit is going to be difficult for him. I am quite tense about it. What are my options to get visa? How much you think it would cost?

Where and who shall i contact?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

hi again,

i heard about dependent visa , is it possible to get it on behalf of my dad for 26 years old indian female?...i don't mind if i can extend it for 6 months..by the time i can search for options....my family is here in Bangkok and it would be very difficult for me to go back. My dad has company of his own and has work permit.

Anxiously waiting for any reply.

I don't know the answer to your question with any degree of certainty, but I would not expect that a 26-year old would qualify as being a dependant of their parent.

If you can't get a work permit from your Dad you might get his suggestions (and a referral maybe) to another job and get a tourist visa until you get a work permit and can convert to a non-imm B visa

OR,

extending your study is another option, you can get another education visa (be a professional student, maybe)

OR,

Go on the 3 x 30 day VOA + (or) 60 day tourist visa + 30 day extension cycle (repeat indefinitely) but you can't work in this case. This is always an option to stay and look around.

I don't know of any other realistic options, maybe others can suggest. Additions and corrections welcome!

Indians only get a 30 day stamp with a 60 day tourist visa. No extension of 30 days is allowed.

You have to be under 20 years old to be a dependent.
