Ministry of Transport unveils Thailand's 20-year development strategy for transport systems

BANGKOK, 9 February 2017 (NNT) – The Minister of Transport has revealed Thailand’s 20-year development strategy for its transportation system with an increasing focus on railway systems.

Transport Minister Arkhom Termphitthayaphaisith said that the Ministry of Transport has discussed with the National Legislative Assembly (NLA)’s Transport Committee President Jareasak Anupharp, regarding the progress of the ministry's various projects.

The Ministry of Transport unveiled Thailand’s 20-year development strategy for the nation's transport system during 2017-2036, and the five year plan during 2017-2021, with an increased emphasis on railway systems.

In 2017, the Ministry of Transport will submit four service routes of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand to the cabinet’s meeting and push forward nine dual track routes and intercity railway projects. The expanded routes will increase rail transport's service coverage from the current 8 percent to 75 percent.

Wot! No flying cars! How short sighted.

More Bullshit to baffle what few brains there are !

First step - close the BRT which 25,000 travellers use daily.

Go with the 30-year plan and add a space station!

Great news for rail enthusiasts and the environment.

This map is way out of date and the article is about the conventional and High Speed Trains and not the Bangkok Mass Transit.

The difference is that projects have been delayed due to previous changes of government. This government is not going to hold elections until all Infrastructure projects contracts have been awarded.

...to the right people.
