BANGKOK: -- The National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) has ordered the suspension of Voice TV's "The Daily Dose" program for one week with reason that it “caused division in society and presented partial facts” in violation of the military junta’s order No. 97/2014.

The decision to suspend the program for a week was reached at the meeting of the NBTC’s  broadcast regulatory committee this week.

It voted 3-to-1 to suspend the program hosted by Nattakorn Devakula. The lone dissenting commissioner is Ms Supinya Klangmarong.

She pointed out in a Tuesday night Tweet that the broadcast committee is “very quick and strong” to punish media for political content but slow to protect consumer rights from being trampled.

Voice TV senior news director Prateep Kingsib said the station had no choice but to comply.

In defence News Director Prateep Kingsib claims he only presented facts regarding the judiciary and the military roles between 2006 and 2014. Can't help but wonder what offended the current military junta if was facts related to the 8 year period prior to their take-over in 2014. If Prateep had being quoting facts relating to the performance of the junta since 2014 then I could understand why they are behaving like precious petals and taking the programme off air.

Censorship !!!!!!!

Censorship !!!!!!!

Sorry, no, I think the correct term is "reforms "

"Host Nattakorn Devakula, whose father was a deputy prime minister of the present regime, said he’s not discouraged as it “comes with the territory” of living under military dictatorship."

Last year Voice TV voluntarily suspended one of the show’s hosts and a frequent commentator from some or all appearances after being  accused of breaching an agreement with the NBTC by showing bias.

Maybe change the name of the station to Speechless TV?

Perhaps they are guilty of broadcasting alternative truths and need re-education.

And the junta just told Amnesty that they were all for freedom of speech (within the bounds of law).

And if you don't like their laws, you

can't enjoy freedom of speech. Win - win.
