Counterfeits banned at border

Featured Replies

Vendors at the Rong Kluea market on the Thai side of the border near Poipet City were told to stop selling counterfeit goods yesterday after asking for permission to continue doing so.   Cambodian authorities met with their Thai counterparts yesterday after hundreds of Cambodian vendors called on them to push Thai officials to set conditions under which they could continue selling the imitation goods.

Poipet City governor Ngor Mengchruon confirmed with Khmer Times yesterday that he held a meeting with Thai authorities from Aranyaprathet district to solve the problem for Cambodian traders, who smuggle counterfeit shoes and clothes into Thailand. Mr. Mengchruon said Cambodian authorities asked Thai authorities to either allow them to continue selling the fakes or allow them to keep selling them until they ran out of stock.

“Cambodia’s requests were denied by the Thai side and all counterfeit products must be removed from the market, however no tax will be charged,” he said. A Cambodian vendor, who asked not to be named, said Thai authorities arrested four Cambodian vendors on Tuesday who were taken to the Thai customs office on suspicion of selling imitation goods.

ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français

ThaiVisa, it's also in French

did they stop ALL bootleg items  or only the ones that paid to be  on the official "list"

that seems to be how it has been at other markets ,

So NIKE may be on the list , but a Tshirt with a Coca Cola logo may not be ,

If it was anything with a logo or copyrighted drawing it is going to be a HUGE pile of goods !
