NONG KHAI: -- A video that made national Thai TV showed why it is always a good idea to check in the toilet bowl before sitting down to do one's business.

Nong Khai houseowner Suriya Rotrasert, 42, got a nasty shock Wednesday as she prepared to relieve herself when she saw the head of a large cobra.

Prajak Muang Nong Khai rescue were immediately called and after a ten minute operation managed to extricate the 2 meter long specimen.

TV presenters commented that such a snake could easily kill you as viewers were warned regarding the snake's capture "not to try this at home".

The snake was returned to nature and Khun Suriya could finally get on with her business at her house in Meechai sub-district.

This is a news story of national importance? I must be getting old...

The nightmare scenario! Good work by the brave rescuers.

Did you see how she handled that snake? My kind of woman!

I had the same fright once before, but after getting off the toilet seat, I realised it wasn't a Cobra after all.

Sorry!

I can think of a few people I would like to put on top of that toilet bowl while the cobra was still hollidaying inside.

One of these if my TW was on the pot would of driven her clean round the bend.

Thats a shitty lookin snake. I always check the loo before my morning reliefe.

National importance if it reminds people before they squat or sit. There are a lot of us who live up country (I'm not one, but...).  So, don't make lite of a subject with such serious consequences. Besides it puts a smile on a few faces.
