SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea conducted a test of a newly developed high-thrust engine at its Tongchang-ri rocket launch station and leader Kim Jong Un said the successful test was "a new birth" of its rocket industry, the country's official media said on Sunday.

The engine will help the country achieve world-class satellite launch capability, KCNA said, indicating the test was likely of a new type of rocket engine for long-range missiles.

The United States and China have pledged to work together to get the North to take "a different course" and move away from its weapons programmes after U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson met his Chinese counterpart on Saturday.

North Korea has conducted five nuclear tests and a series of missile launches and is believed by experts and government officials to be working to develop nuclear-warhead missiles that can reach the United States.

Kim Jong Un has said the country is close to a test-launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

"He (Kim) noted that the success made in the current test marked a great event of historic significance as it declared a new birth of the Juche-based rocket industry," KCNA said. Juche refers to North Korea's homegrown ideology.

"He emphasized that the whole world will soon witness what eventful significance the great victory won today carries," KCNA said.

Kim's days are numbered and that is all I can say.

There is currently a massive military presence, by land , sea and air (heavy bombers and drones) ready to vaporize the little clown.

Expect to hear more soon by the U.S./Japanese Military.

A contrarian view might be that Kim Jong Un is quite justified to keep fine tuning their weapons for defence purposes given the USA's penchant for regime change. Meanwhile a small country in the Middle East is allowed to have a totally secret stockpile.

Such duplicity:bah:

Since the "like" button doesn't work : My thoughts too , Midas.

Keeping a nuclear deterrend is the only way to keep the US out.

But he hasn't attacked anyone has he?

And if his days are numbered I think he is likely to go out with a very big bang in space

It would seem a reasonable solution would be to figure out how to completely eliminate Kim and all of his top generals. How difficult would that really be and why does it seem that nobody is discussing this, or working on this?

There are some lines you cross in life, that make you a pariah, and essentially revoke your right to breath oxygen. What has he done for his people, and for mankind lately? He is useless. He is vermin. He is a waste of oxygen. He sucks wealth, resources, and gives absolutely nothing back to his people, or the region. He is a foul swine.
