Forestry official sacked for allegedly killing endangered animals, posting photos of carcasses on Facebook

BANGKOK: -- An official of the Royal Forest Department in Tak province was immediately fired after it was learned that he allegedly killed endangered animals and posted photos of their carcasses on Facebook, inviting his friends to eat the animals.

 

According to Forest Department Director Cholathit Suraswadee, forestry specialist Jakkrit Chinpetch was sacked pending investigation of the photos of carcasses on Facebook.

 

The photos feature a number of jungle cats and palm civets, MThai reported.

Sacked !!! wow thats a first.

Forestry department not got any in-active posts.    

He should be doing time.  It is completely unbelievable that he is not awaiting trial, but alas been told poaching carries only carries a B20k fine.  Should anyone have information to the contrary, please post it.  

 

Heard a story of two Vietnamese poachers who got into a fire fight with Thai forest rangers.  The poachers were killed.  Was told they would only faced a B20k fine and of course the working illegally Thailand thing.  Instead, they chose to fight.

Having been to many RFD offices, most of the positions are inactive!

Apparently not as serious as feeding bread to the fish.... lucky guy.

Last week i read about the rescued turtle in the European newspapers...it made thailand look good.

 

I wonder if i read about this guy tomorrow.....

I hope the European newspapers also write about that case in their article about this hero.

 

100.000 baht fine for feeding the fish while being a tourist on a boat and 20.000 baht fine for killing/selling endangered animals while being a forestry official...

 

And what about the old people who got 15 years jailtime for picking mushrooms in a natural reserve? Are they still in jail?

Anyone remember that infamous photo of Thai police and forestry officials drinking whisky surrounded by wild animals they'd just killed and smiling for the camera? Whatever happened to them do you think. String the bastards up. I'd pay to come and watch and I'm anti death penalty. Barbarians.
