March 23, 20179 yr If you don't have a license and a car of your own, then what is the best way to get around in Khao Yai? I understand how to get to Khao Yai with a bus or van, but after you've been dropped off at your resort, how do you get around and visit all different places around Khao Yai? I'm guessing that Grab Taxi won't work there?
March 23, 20179 yr I have not visited for 20 years but basically once you get to the park HQ various trails are marked on a board and you go for a hike.
March 23, 20179 yr Author So locations like Palio town, Panthers creek, Primo Piazza, the vienyards, waterfalls (e.t.c.) are all on walking distance from each other? I thought that there were at least a few kilometers between all the attractions.

I thought that there were at least a few kilometers between all the attractions. Everything in spaced out over there plus there is no space along the road to walk. Nothing is within walking distance. Guess your best option will be to hire a taxi or minivan for the day. Most resorts will have contacts with a driver who can drive you around all day long. Not many other options available there.
March 24, 20179 yr Palm Garden Lodge on the Prachin Buri side used to organise guided trips through Khao Yai.
March 24, 20179 yr Try finding a bike or buy a cheap bike in bkk and take it with you, bike is healthy.

March 24, 20179 yr There is a guy on facebook called khaoyai - pakchong taxi. Look him up. He speaks english.
March 24, 20179 yr I drove around Khao Yai on my motorbike last year. But the resort I stayed at offered group day trips into the park that many guests said they enjoyed. A guide drove groups of people to see the waterfalls and go for a rain forest hike to maybe see elephants in the wild. Edited March 24, 20179 yr by Ondral
March 24, 20179 yr You're best bet would be to rent a motorcycle for a couple of days and use it to get around both to see the attractions outside the park and of course in the park. If you rent a bike what I would suggest is you check out of your hotel and drive into the park and that night rent a tent at one of the two camping areas. Their are toilet facilities/showers located in the camp areas as well as places to eat and you will certainly see more animals at night. Stop at the park headquarters and they will give you maps of the park and hiking trails. If for some reason you don't want to rent a bike then the next best thing would be to get on one of the tours that will take you thru the park and return you to your hotel in the afternoon. Once you enter the park, either from the Pak Chong or Pranchinburi entrances you are still a long way from any hiking trails, waterfalls etc.
March 24, 20179 yr There is only one driveable road through the park. The various resorts -- all of which are located outside the park - all have tours or taxis you can rent. But be aware that (1)if go in more than 1 day, have to pay the 400 Baht entrance fee all over again each day; (2) there is only 1 waterfall that you can drive right to, all the others entail a fairly significant hike (though there is usually soemwhere to park before starting the hike); and (3) there are lots of nice hiking trails, including a pretty easy one that links 2 waterfalls. You can get trail maps at the park headquarters and I think they may indicate which are the best ones for viewing elephants etc. For all those reasons, I also recommend overnighting inside the park itself, preferrabl;y with a rented car or moto, and plain on a fair amount of hiking. The park is quite spread out.
