RTAF commander responds to allegations against Wing 2

LOPBURI, 24 MARCH 2017 (NNT) – The commander of the Royal Thai Air Force has affirmed that commanding officers of air force personnel in Lopburi that were relieved of duty last year did not cut their entitled pay.

Air Force Commander ACM Jom Roongsawang has responded to a news article alleging that members of Wing Unit 2 in Lopburi province who were relieved of duty in October 2016 had their per diems cut by their commanding officers, stating that all units of the air force are compelled to conduct their finances with transparency and that individual soldiers are allowed to collect their own per diems by signing off at their commanding headquarters.

He posited that the soldiers in question likely did not seek their residual payments within the allotted time and the funds were returned to their units adding a review of expenditures has found no irregularities.

The commander further assured that celebrations held for the soldiers upon their relief were paid for by their unit’s fund and did not require them to have their per diems cut. He noted that celebrations were merely communal meals and did not involve any entertainment requiring high cost.
