The Phya Sua (tiger) team of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plants Conservation has reclaimed over 2,200 rai of land in Tap Larn national park from encroachers within five days from March 20.

Tap Larn national park chief Prawatsart Chanthep disclosed that there are 99 permanent structures which are mostly resorts and recreational homes in the reclaimed land.

Notices were served to the encroachers to dismantle the structures and forest encroachment charges have been lodged against them.

These stories while good news only scratch the surface. I would love to read an in depth article

on how people were able to lay claim to the land. Who they bought it from, which officials

were bribed. I understand the libel laws so just name positions in the land office. How much

were the bribes and is there any chance of prosecuting these individuals.

this has been happening for years and still does but the people that are encroaching/corruptly claiming this land are never punished/jailed or made to pay restitution. The people that actually set this up, ie the govt office people are also never jailed/charged or have their assests seized, why is this, they are all corrupt and braking the law, have to wonder if those that do the investigating etc are worried they may one day be in the same boat so they do as little as possible. This is corruption at a very high level, time for those caught out to be charged and not simply told to remove the structures, position and name should mean nothing.

A very good start, commendable indeed, let's hope it is returned to it's natural state.

Let's hope that ALL (to the very top) those who have knowingly bought illegal land are eventually punished. Those who were not aware should be compensated by those who knowingly sold land or property that should never have been offered for sale ... again also 100% applicable to those at the very, very, very top of the pyramid.
