79 listed companies report profit surge in Q1

BANGKOK, 11 May 2017 (NNT) - 79 listed companies in the Thai stock markets made combined profits totaling more than 110 billion baht or a 18% increase in the first quarter of 2017, according to a securities firm.

Senior Director for KTB Securities (Thailand) Mongkol Muangpetra said most of the profit growth was from the companies in the banking, construction material, petrochemical and food sectors. The rise in profit was the result of their abilities to expand markets and the efficiency of the organizations, said the senior director.

As for the risk factors for the Thai stock markets, Mr.Mongkol suggested investors closely monitor the Fed's interest rate policy, capital movement, performance of listed companies in the first quarter of this year as well as the Thai economic situation.

It is very likely that the Fed will increase interest rates during its meeting on 14 June 2017, the senior director said.
