A Buddhist monk in Battambang province has been charged with attacking a fellow monk with an axe and seriously wounding him. Keuth Samnang, 32, was accused of “an intentional act of violence” at a pagoda in Kamrieng District on Saturday.
 

Deputy district police chief Tith Pal said the two men got into a heated argument at Wat Kiri Ratanak in Svay Village while working together to prepare a religious ceremony. “They came to blows and had to be separated by other monks,” said Mr Pal. “The suspect then went to his room, got a big axe and attacked his colleague with it.
 

“He fled the pagoda but was surrounded by other monks and laypeople, who apprehended him.” The victim, Venerable Oum Vandeth, 22, suffered serious injuries to his left shoulder.

is a problem mostly in the Theravada tradition where some monks hearts are not really in the right place.
