UBON RATCHATHANI: -- For the third time since the start of the year the first prize in the national lottery has gone to people living in Phiboon Mangsaharn district of Ubon.

Striking the 6 million baht jackpot this time was 54 year old resident of Pho Thai village Bon Suthikun, reported Thai Rath.

Bon bought his lucky pair of tickets - number 454891 in the draw Tuesday - at a local chicken noodle shop.

Yesterday evening Bon and a relative were at the Phiboon Mangsaharn police station to register ownership of the ticket.

Most Thais do this for evidential purposes before they go to claim the winnings from the national government lottery office later.

Thai Rath said it was the third time since the beginning of 2017 that the first prize has been won by a native of this district.

And the fee for registering the ticket to the holder is......?

Would love to know the sales total for one off the lotteries versus the payout total in prizes is .

Someone somewhere has to win it usually but im sure the odds I seen off winning the jackpot here were insane like most lotteries.

wow finally a dream come true, don't get so excited old folks.

FUNNY That????

Well they may not be the happiest of winners but at least they weren't rich. They remind me of this Harry Enfield clip. Love the slobs.

OMG all the people will now be moving to the luckiest place in the country then

Yes you are right, you really have to be more than lucky to win. This can only mean one thing, the lottery entrepreneurs are making lots and lots of money every time. What is 6 million bahts compare to the number of tickets sold? Well, it is supported by the government and you smart statisticians or mathematicians can't grumble just buy your ticket. In Britain it would be called a "Rip Off".

Three of my neighbours on Samui, won yesterday .... Two people  at 30,000 baht and one at 60,000 baht must be the second luckiest place!

My lady was in Ubon today

She said,   she see lucky Buffalo, cant see whats lucky about it myself.

Do they ever have a draw were no one has the winning number?  Happens in NA were no one has the winning number so the prize for for the next draw increases. Seen some pretty big prizes in the power ball lottery in the US. Some approaching 900 million dollars if no one wins week after week. Same in Canada. The difference between the two countries is that in Canada the winnings are tax free. In US they have taxes on the winnings.

I'm disappointed, I want to see a photo of them pointing at the tree they rubbed to get the lucky numbers.
