Commerce Ministry Permanent Secretary: US confirms its trade and investment relations with Thailand

BANGKOK, 19 May 2017 (NNT) - The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce stated that the United States has confirmed its trade and investment relations with Thailand will remain the same.

Commerce Ministry Permanent Secretary Wiboonlak Ruamrak disclosed that the United States insisted on continuing its trade and investment relations with Thailand and also invited Thailand to invest in the United States' petroleum and natural gas industry.

On the issue of President Donald Trump's executive order to review trade deficits with all nations, the ministry confirms that Thailand’s operations are transparent and cohesive with the all issues that has been stressed by the United States, especially on the issue of intellectual property.

On 19 May, the Department of Intellectual Property will discuss with representatives from the United States Trade Representative Office on a VDO conference to report on Thailand's progress on the issue. It is expected that this meeting will be a great opportunity to push for the eventual removal Thailand from the United States' Priority Watch List (PWL).
