BANGKOK: -- Motorcycle racer Akarakit “Benz Racing” Worarojcharoendet formally pleaded not guilty on Monday to laundering money.

His lawyer, Sitthichok Trinet, said he was prepared to post Bt3 million in cash as bail.

Prosecutors on Friday decided to indict Akarakit, Sansern Rasanont, 25, and Angsuporn Inna, 29, for allegedly laundering drug money and conspiring to launder money on behalf of accused Lao drug kingpin Xaysana Keopimpa. The three also face charges under the Measures for Suppression of Narcotic Offenders Act of abetting drug-related offences and accepting assets in return.

Before entering the courtroom, Akarakit repeated to reporters that he had nothing to do with drug trafficking and intended to clear his name regarding related money transactions.

In the months since the allegations emerged, Akarakit has never been held in custody. He remained free through seven detention-request periods prior to the indictment, on Bt500,000 bail and on condition he not leave the country without the court’s permission.

"and on condition he not leave the country without the court’s permission."    Gee, that's an easy fix - take his passport.  But why does it seem he'll walk like all the rich walk?

Walk yes undignified to run.

Thais don't need a "Passport" to visit a neighboring country.

It might have been appropriate for the Prosecutor to inquire where the 3 million Baht cash came from.

His mommy gave him the money TIT

Time to clear his name means time to pay off a few million baht in the right hands. So he can launder several more billion baht  later.

For flights on international airlines passport required .

Can cross land borders into zones close to borders with Thai ID card but not travel further inland .

Just a baht top up?

"...on Bt500,000 bail and on condition he not leave the country without the court’s permission."

The words, "Red" and "Bull" spring to mind.  It seems that the prosecutors haven't learnt their lesson; and probably never will.

He will be waiting till the verdict, to see,if its stay or go

if it only costs 10 baht to cross the market at a very popular place in the east (for SEA-looking folk that is), imagine what millions of baht can do

3 million :clap2: See you in the villa Mr. Racing!

The Criminal Court on Monday rejected bail for Mr Akkarakit Worarotecharoendet, alias Benz Racing, claiming that the charges against him carry maximum penalty of death and that the prosecutor also turned down his bail.

Akkarakit was indicted at the court together with two other suspects, Sansern Rasanont and Ms Angsuporn E0-na, by the public prosecutor on money laundering and abetting in money laundering. He denied all the charges against him.
