Ranong troops intercept Myanmar worker smugglers
By The Nation

RANONG: -- Troops of the Ranong-based Thep Sattree Taskforce intercepted three attempts to smuggle undocumented Myanmar workers into Thailand late Sunday night.

Colonel Santi Sakuttanag, commander of the taskforce, said on Monday that troops from his taskforce stopped three pickup trucks carrying 33 undocumented Myanmar workers in total in three separate smuggling attempts. One of the workers is a woman, he added.

In the first case, a pickup driven by Komkrit Kraisit, a Surat Thani resident, was stopped at the road checkpoint in Moo 1 village in tambon Naga of Ranong’s Suksamaran district and the troops found 14 undocumented Myanmar migrants.

In the second attempt, the troops arrested nine Myanmar workers inside a pickup near the same road checkpoint but the driver managed to flee.

Then, the troops found another pickup in Moo 8 village in the same tambon and arrested 10 Myanmar workers. The driver fled.

Hell of a 'taskforce' down south it would seem..They managed to detain ONE driver, while allowing 2 others to flee.. you think they'd

prefer to keep this incident hushed-up.

OH but wait on..the Myanmar workers were the ones that needed arresting...It would appear the smugglers were not the priotity here..

... Human trafficking in the South is business as usual then..TiT.
