TRANG: -- A massive fire burned down a building and a huge pile of rubber scrap at a rubber factory in Trang province late Tuesday night.

Pol Lt-Colonel Banthiwat Phetlor of Huay Yod Police Station said the fire started at the Ratsada Rubbertex Co Ltd in Huay Yod district at 10.35pm.

Some 10 fire engines tried to prevent the blaze at the warehouse storing the scrap from spreading to nearby buildings and the living quarters of workers and executives as well as a large latex storage tank.

Since the factory was located far from any source of water, it was nearly 2am Wednesday before the firefighters managed to control the blaze.

.............Since the factory was located far from any source of water, it was nearly 2am Wednesday before the firefighters managed to control the blaze.

Yet it must have been inspected and found to be in compliance with building fire regulations or it would not have been operating........
