Non-O Dependent Visa + Non-B Concurrently in Laos

Featured Replies

Just wanted to ask if anyone has experience of the documentary requirements for obtaining a non-O immigrant (single-entry) visa in Laos at the same time as applying for a non-B immigrant single-entry visa?

I'm (UK Citizen) currently in Thailand on a tourist visa, and am informed my wife (Chinese) will be able to apply for a non-O in Laos at the same time as my non-B application - the company will supply me with the non-B documentation tomorrow.

Does anyone know the specification required by the Thai Embassy in Laos for the Chinese marriage certificate? Does it have to be double legalised (English) translation in China, or can it be legalised in Bangkok at the MFA at Chaeng Wattana?

Many thanks

Small correction

Your wife will not be able to apply for a visa in Vientiane. China is on the list of countries that must apply for their visa in their home country or country of legal residence. This list says tourist visa but it applies to all visas. http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/upload/pdf/RestrictedCountries2013.pdf

After you have your extension of stay your wife will be able to apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry at immigration as your dependent. Then she will be able to apply for an extension as your dependent.

Edit: If she was able to apply for the visa in Vientiane they would only want a translation of your marriage certificate.

To apply at immigration for the visa and extension of stay they will want the marriage certificate legalized and the translation of it certified by the MFA.

Thanks Ubon Joe,

I had a suspicion that this may be the case for Chinese citizens; I will recheck with the company as they may have forgotten this requirement.

So, spouses can apply for a non-O at Chaeng Wattana on the basis of my employment and extension?
