expiring passport, problems enter/exit Thailand?

Featured Replies

Me and gf are going to travel, her passport will have 1 month validity when we enter Thailand, going to update her passport in her home country but want to travel trough Thailand.

Will we run into problems with her  "within a month expired passport" upon entering/exit Thailand?

If I remember correctly, they need the passport to be valid for a few weeks when entering/exiting Thailand, but not sure

Expires a month before she enters Thailand?

ever heard of the universal  Minimum 6 Months Rule thingy?

I do not think you can enter ANY country with an expired passport.

That is what I vaguely remember, that is why I ask. So is it true

What country is she from? She may need 6 months of passport validity since it varies by nationality.

Those from most countries that qualify for a visa exempt entry only need a passport valid for their length of stay.

There is no minimum leaving the country other than it must still be valid. The airline would be the ones that would not allow her to board if her passport did not meet the requirements for the country she is traveling to.

Check here to confirm if she meets the requirements. https://skyteam.traveldoc.aero/

In your original post you said it will expire BEFORE you come to Thailand.

She needs 6 months of validity.

When she enters by air she will get a 14 day visa exempt entry.

I think Burmese nationals need a passport with 6 month validity to go almost anywhere in the world other than back to home country.

Where are you now, and how long do you have before you travel? Perhaps, it will be possible to arrange an emergency travel document.
