BOI confirms more private investment made to meet Thailand 4.0 goal

BANGKOK, 11th July 2017 (NNT) - The Board of Investment of Thailand has confirmed the private sector has been investing more to prepare for the government’s Thailand 4.0 goal.

Secretary General of the BOI, Hirunya Suchinai, today disclosed that from January 2016 to June 2017, the BOI has approved investment incentives for 16 robotic projects, which represent one of the industries in the focus of the Thailand 4.0 policy.

Mrs. Hirunya said that the total investment value of these projects stands at over 1.4 billion baht.

In addition, she said the BOI has approved an investment promotion application to Nachi Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a major Japanese company, which plans to invest in the production of a robotic manufacturing system for industrial use after having invested in nine projects in Thailand since 1999.

Mrs. Hirunya added that Nachi Technology has also set up a trade exhibition center for robotic and automatic systems as well as a test and design consulting center along with the robot technical center, which is the fourth it has opened after the US, China and Taiwan.

People should not think that by Thailand kicking a goal for Thailand 4.0 the country is on the way to a major change in economic direction and fortune.

The rest of Asia is not standing still and Thailand's neighbours have their own 4.0 goals to achieve and my bet is they will make a better fist of it than Thailand which has the disadvantage of being run by the ever erratic junta which can never seem to make a policy decision without stuffing it up.

For interest sake here is Vietnam's take on 4.0 and it is explained where they are going and what they are doing in a far better way than PM Prayut's previous bumbling attempts, all of which only expose his lack of knowledge and substance on the issue. All boiled down, he is still only a soldier who can boast a wardrobe full of smart uniforms.
