Boy, 8, held for selling crystal meth

Featured Replies

An eight-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday for the third time in Phnom Penh for distributing drugs. Bun Sothy, a Tuol Kork district police officer, said yesterday that the boy did not attend school and lived with his parents in a slum by the train tracks in Boeung Kak II commune.

Mr Sothy said police caught him openly distributing crystal methamphetamine again for drug users at a known drug ravaged area in Tuol Kork district. After his arrest, police seized 35 small packages of the drug. “The municipal court’s prosecutor has charged him with drug trafficking but has allowed him to stay outside detention because he is a minor,” said Mr Sothy. “But he was put under the court’s control.”

“The court’s prosecutor has now sent him to temporarily stay at the municipal rehabilitation centre for education,” Mr Sothy added, noting this was the third time the boy had been caught by police. Mr Sothy added that a drug trafficker paid the boy about $12.50 per day to distribute the drugs.

How much of that $12.50 a day the boy gets goes straight into daddy's pocket? His parents are the responsible ones here I feel free to assume. They should be arrested and the boy should be put into a program to save him while there's still time.
