manhood
Well be aware of any activies in Thailand as most of them can change into a dangerouse advanture as nothing beeing used is maintained properly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
phantomfiddler
Strange to imagine how 5 people could have died when their boat sank, especially when they would have all had buoyancy control vests and tanks full of compressed air. At surface depth these tanks would have lasted for many hours. No comment...just strange.

Bangyo1948
What strikes me as odd is the comment that the engine was old and hence the need to pump out water? the need to pump out water would normally indicate a hull breach. The sea state, when the incident occurred, was rough. Look at the wheelhouse, does it look like an add on,notice the shallow draft of the hull (speedboat hull). Was the boats stability compromised, how many people was there in the wheelhouse and on deck when it capsized (6 in the salon one escaped). Lack of inspections and greed will continue to cost lives, not just in Thailand. Edited August 15, 2017 by Bangyo1948

gk10002000
The five victims were among a group of 13 people, including scuba diving students and instructors, who hired a boat to go out into the sea for a diving and undersea photography lessons. The boat was operating in Chumphon Gulf despite a foul weather advisory that small vessels should stay ashore. The five dead comprise four women and one man. They are scuba diving students identified as Mr Mahasana Kanjanapskorn, Ms Tirachaya Methamongolthip, Ms Chandara Tapchan, Mrs Tapanee Worawatanakul, and Ms Suwanna Suthanurak. Quote Just guessing the women were not good swimmers which is not atypical for Thais. And 13 seems to me that it is pushing the limit for a boat of that size. Now add in foul weather warning they ignored.
