BANGKOK: -- Thai special branch police have announced the arrest as an "important figure" in the trafficking of Thai women for the sex trade in South Korea.

The DSI said that 39 year old Kim Hyong Jun was acting as a recruiter telling Thai women they would be working in traditional massage in Korea.

All expenses were paid for the women but on arrival their passports were taken and they became prisoners of the gang. Daily News said the Thais were forced into having sex.

Kim's arrest was made Thursday at The Log 3 in Sukhumvit Soi 101/1 by the human trafficking section of the Department of Special Investigations.

There were eight related arrests back in February but Songsak Raksaksakun of the DSI said that Kim was an important figure in the gang wanted on arrest warrants in Korea and by Interpol.

A Thai woman wanted in relation to the case remains on the run.

Songsak said that Kim had been in Thailand for three years and was recruiting women telling them they would be working in Thai traditional massage.

Daily News noted in a warning to Thai women that massage work is a reserved occupation for Koreans in their country.

Why is it that Thai women don't want to understand that massage jobs abroad will mostly end up in sex jobs?

50% of them, or more, fully understand.  The biggest issue is that many of these women are poor,  their Thai husbands or boyfriends have just buggered off leaving them to fend for their family so almost destitute.  They know full well what "massage" in Korea really means, especially so with Facebook.

They are quite willing to sell sex in Korea in order to earn money and support their families but however they are poor as church mice and do not have the money for flights to korea themselves.  hence they turn to creeps like this who offer flights, accommodation etc.   They assume, wrongly, they they will easily pay the "loan" back when they are working.  It is only when they arrive and have their passports taken from them they realise that they have been duped and are expected to service many Korean men per day and will receive only a pittance.

Only recently the S Korean immigration advised Thai authorities that out of 111,000 entries by Thais 52,000 are staying illegally and it is estimated that 50% of those are in the sex industry there.   A big problem.  But the biggest problem is not just this creep who got caught, by the slime ball Thai women who "escaped".  You bet she did with the help of the RTP .  This woman and possibly many like her are friends and relatives who entice their own kin in some cases.  Now these people really are vermin in my book.

Bathism and lack of common sense?

How about being naive, showing a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgment.(Unwise in worldly ways) 16 years ago I dated an innocent Thai farm girl got her into modeling. EU national said he could take her to Europe get a job she declined later he introduced her to his elderly mom who was traveling with him in Thailand said she could come over and work take care of his mom so she went. Took her passport put her into prostitution.  He was not aware of me and that I had friends in the city he lived in who were police officers, they located her arrested him and sent her back to Thailand . Many girls get tricked into going overseas to work as a nanny, elder caretaker, massage, dancer, model, waitress etc then have passports confiscated and forced into prostitution that's what human trafficking is.

I think many Thai women who work 'massage' in their home country very closely relate 'sex' with 'massage' and are somewhat prepared for it......... However being held prisoner in a foreign land is a whole new ballgame.......... as well as multiple customers daily..........

Thai way of thinking... a friend of my ex-GF once applied for a work visa to Australia as she could get a job in a massage parlor. Told me without blinking an eyelid that it was a proper job and big tips when showing her boobs only. And these women have a proper job on bachelors level.
