Maxwell’s Silence - who is she protecting ?

Ghislaine Maxwell's refusal to testify before Congress draws backlash.

Ghislaine Maxwell chose silence over answers during a closed-door congressional deposition, invoking her Fifth Amendment right. This move has drawn sharp criticism, with Democratic Representative Robert Garcia questioning, “Who is she protecting?”

Garcia, part of the oversight committee pushing to release Jeffrey Epstein’s investigative files, slammed Maxwell for providing no information about Epstein's network. He accused the Trump administration of giving her special treatment in a low-security prison, alleging a White House cover-up.

Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year sentence for her involvement with Epstein, was advised by her attorney David Oscar Markus to remain silent. Markus stated that Maxwell's current habeas petition demonstrates her conviction was based on an unfair trial, hence her decision to invoke the Fifth.

According to Markus, Maxwell is willing to reveal everything if granted clemency by President Trump. "Only she can provide the complete account," he insisted, suggesting that both Trump and Clinton are innocent of any wrongdoing related to Epstein.

The White House, approached for comment, reiterated previous statements that pardoning Maxwell was not under consideration.

Ro Khanna, another Democratic representative, pointed out inconsistencies in Maxwell’s stance. Previously, she willingly engaged in an interview with Trump’s Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche without invoking her rights.

Maxwell answered all questions without hesitation during that meeting, said her lawyer. This shift from openness to silence raises questions about her motivations and potential protections.

Khanna had prepared pointed questions for Maxwell, seeking clarity on co-conspirators and secret settlements she once acknowledged. The Department of Justice claims no list of names exists, despite suspicions fueled by released documents and legal claims.

Maxwell’s silence has intensified demands for transparency amid ongoing investigations. As her lawyer suggests the truth could emerge with clemency, the political and legal drama surrounding Epstein's network continues unabated.

Key Takeaways:

  • Maxwell refused to testify, invoking her Fifth Amendment rights.

  • Her silence spurred allegations of a cover-up and raised questions.

  • Calls for transparency in Epstein's investigation intensify.

Not pedantic at all. They didn't agree, they went out of their way to avoid it until they were forced to do it under threat of criminal prosecution.

What is it about Dems and lefties where they want to give their people credit for cooperating when they finally have no choice?

It's like Biden, knowing in 2017 that he had classified papers. That was revealed in the Hur Report. It was 5 years later that he finally gave them up. And the Dems and lefties praised him for "fully cooperating".

In this case, the Clintons have been fighting tooth and nail against testifying. They only agreed when they were threatened with prison. (a'la Navarro and Bannon).

why do you assume she is protecting anyone but herself?

How can any of this benefit her?

Again, the Biden DOJ had the files for four years and found nothing on Trump.

Oops.

President Donald Trump, in a call two decades ago to a Florida police chief, bashed former friend Jeffrey Epstein and called Epstein’s procurer Ghislaine Maxwell “evil,” the retired cop told FBI agents in 2019, a Department of Justice document shows.

https://www.cnbc.com/2026/02/09/trump-jeffrey-epstein-ghislaine-maxwell-palm-beach-police.html

Also in the linked article:

The DOJ said, “We are not aware of any corroborating evidence that the President contacted law enforcement 20 years ago.”

The reason being that the same testimony shows that Trump was aware of Epstein's criminal! (Also from your article) 🤣

Actually, Trump got scarred and tried to save his ass, only after it was known that Epstein was in trouble. 😅

"During the 2006 call, “Trump told [Reiter] that he was around Epstein once when teenagers were present and Trump got the hell out of there,” the summary said.

“Trump was one of the very first people to call when people found out that they were investigating Epstein,” the summary said.

In an April 2019 email released last year by House Democrats, Epstein wrote to author Michael Wolff that Trump “knew about the girls,” according to a copy of that message purportedly between the two men."

Almost added that myself, but I've made note of the hypocrisy more than a few times. The elite have done nothing more or less than the sexpats (self included) or sex tourist here, unless breaking that legal age barrier here in TH, which is about the same world wide, 18+/-.

Even when I first got here, at 45 yrs old, I couldn't see myself having sex with someone younger than 20. First 1st Thai wife was 22 when I met her, and divorced already. Younger than 20, especially Asian, seem too young for me, and in my mind, even at my 45, still someone's child. At mind age now (71), I'd be embarrassed to be seen with someone younger than 30. My daughter is 27, nah, that age doesn't work for me. That's grandkids age for me.

Using your own behavior to justify or otherwise obfuscate the rape of minors by Epstein and the perverts he was trafficking girls to is not a good look, but obviously one you are happy to choose.

It's funny how lefties will take a 2nd hand report of someone's friend performing a BJ 30 years ago as gospel, or a whackjob that doesn't even remember what year it happened, but not the statement from a Chief of Police.

Trump saw what Epstein and Maxwell were doing, and he dropped a dime on them. At risk to himself, BTW... He could have ended up in the Clinton Body Count.

I don't do the P4P lifestyle, only once on 1st holiday to TH, and she was 30 yrs old. And I was only 44. A 23 yr gap with first Thai wife isn't much either, for Asian gals, especially when I could easily pass for 35 back then. She was already divorced, so far from mentally a child.

2nd Thai wife (present), was 28, and me 50, and I think that, and all my relationships fall into consenting, mature, adults. I always considered myself a consenting, mature adult, way before legally an adult. Just after you hit 18, you need to be careful, and make sure they are also 'adults', even if 14 going on 25.

In the USA, my largest age gap was with a 19 yr old gal, and me 28, and she was the 'aggressor'. Most relationships of mine did have 5-10 yr gap, as I always looked younger for my age. Couldn't grow a beard till damn near 28 yrs old. Always carded at new bars visited, up to around 25. If not a card everyone policy.

So your attempt to put me in Epstein territory, fails miserably. Not saying that would be a bad or illegal place to be, just not for me. They (gals) all knew what & why they 'enjoyed' their time with the older elite folks.

I think most folks, I am, are probably just envious, they were too poor to be invited to Epstein Island cheesy

Blah blah! What I cited were real quotes, from the article you linked yourself!

But you truncated my post in order to hide the quotes I made, which is against forum rules! 🤣

In the same way, you also did not even read the news you just linked! 🤣

Quote from the news you linked:

"These revelations may challenge Trump's longstanding denial of knowledge regarding Epstein’s crimes. In 2019, Trump claimed ignorance of Epstein’s misconduct, stating, "No, I had no idea."

Of course I read that. What was he going to say? Yeah, I was the one who dropped a dime on them.

I'm not a politician and even I know that would have been stoopid.

My point is that this testimony, if corroborated, shows that Trump was aware of Epstein's crimes. It also shows that Trump only reported them after it was publicly known that Epstein was investigated, in order to save his ass. He did not 'snitch' him before that, while Epstein's crimes had been ongoing for years.

That may explain why the DOJ said, “We are not aware of any corroborating evidence that the President contacted law enforcement 20 years ago.” (your first link).

I doubt the DOJ will ever corroborate or investigate it, because it would naturally raise the question "when did you see that teenagers were present?" and "why didn't you report it at that time?" 🤣

Oh, go on then...

The phrase "the pot calling the kettle black" is a classic idiom used to point out hypocrisy. It describes a situation where someone criticizes another person for a fault that they also possess.

Meaning & Usage

  • Definition: It is used when an accuser is guilty of the very thing they are complaining about.

  • Modern Shortening: In casual conversation, it is often shortened to just "Pot, meet kettle" or simply "Pot. Kettle.".

  • Example: If a friend who is always late scolds you for being five minutes behind, you might say, "Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!"

Not sure what any of that has to do with my famously impartial approach to matters though.

According to Rep Thomas Massie (R), Trump's name appears more than 1,000,000 times in the Epstein Files.

Kash Patel and Pam Bondi probably ran out of black Magic Markers crossing out Trump's name, which is why the release has taken, so far, two months more than the legal deadline set by Congress.

Other revelations are that victims were as young a 9 years old. So a woman who helped traffic and procure girls for her boss, who took them as young as age 9, is angling for clemency, and Trump has stated on several occasions he is considering a pardon.

Difficult to understand what constitutes a non-pardonable offense in Trump world. It isn't beating and bear spraying 140 police. It isn't searching for the Vice President to hang him. It isn't running 400 tonnes of cocaine into the US. It isn't laundering money for Hamas. It may not be procuring 9 years olds for Epstein and his clients.

Trump names a million times, and still, the Biden DOJ was not able to get anything on Trump, and they had to prosecute him for recording payments to his attorney as legal fees.

More about it

Jeffrey Epstein‘s convicted pimp Ghislaine Maxwell has unleashed the nuclear option in a last-ditch effort to get out of prison by claiming in court papers a group of 25 “untouchable” men made “secret settlements” with victims — and implying they could and should be prosecuted, per New York Post.

One expert believes Maxwell’s carefully crafted legal grenade is a clear message to the dead pedophile’s rich and powerful friends that she may start naming names if her 20-year sex trafficking prison sentence is not overturned.

“It’s an absolute negotiating chip — she wants a pardon, a reduction in sentence, a commutation,” private investigator Ed Opperman tells Globe. “She’s throwing this out so that the people on that list will use their wealth, power and influence to get her out of prison to keep her quiet.”

Providing he does not die in office. The current VP is not going to cut her lose if he ascends (unless Thiel tells him to).

BTW, has anyone else noticed there has been scant press about Virginia Giuffre's suicide in Australia? That this American went to the Commonwealth to kill herself sounds like a red flag in light of seeing the pic below, now ask the question again: who is she protecting? I could see why a good subject would balk at besmirching The Crown, but now that the King himself is chasing him off she needn't protect him.

Prison is about keeping the people inside from getting out. Do they even consider the possibility of the need to keep intruders out? Does Miz Maxwell lock her dormitory room from the inside?

I say send her back to the sh_t pit they transferred her from.
