Russia Warns UK Over Drones Used in Attacks on Russia

Russia has warned the United Kingdom of “consequences” after confirming that British-made drones were used in strikes on targets in Russia, accusing London of escalating the war.

Russian Embassy Accuses UK Of Escalation

The Russian Embassy in London said Britain had “deliberately opted for an escalation” following reports that the drones were employed in attacks inside Russian territory. In a statement, it said the UK was acting as an “accomplice and co-perpetrator” of what it described as “crimes and terrorist attacks”.

The embassy added that the UK would have to respond for its actions, warning that the more it became involved in the conflict, the higher the “price” it would face.

UK Says It Stands With Ukraine

Responding to the allegations, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) told BBC News that Britain would stand “shoulder to shoulder” with Ukraine. The spokesperson said Russia should have no doubt about the UK government’s determination to oppose Russian aggression both in Ukraine and against the UK and its allies.

The spokesperson also said the UK was committed to supplying Ukraine with the equipment it needs to defend itself against Vladimir Putin’s “illegal invasion”.

Drones Used Against Military And Industrial Targets

The drones cited by Russia were built by two separate British companies. They have been used inside Russia in what the text describes as widespread targeting of military and industrial sites, including refineries and warehouses linked to Wildberries, an online retailer.

Ukraine has said it repeatedly targeted the company, known as Russia’s version of Amazon. It claims that seven out of 10 of the largest Wildberries logistics centres have been “disabled”. A military source told the BBC that UK drones were used in the attacks, which are said to have caused more than £35bn in economic damage.

Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said drones using UK components and configurations were used to strike Russian territory, including a fuel depot in the Kamensky District of the Rostov Region.

Wave Of Strikes Follow Previous Attacks

The warning comes amid a period of Ukrainian strikes on Russia. In the latest overnight attacks, Russian officials said about 620 drones were launched towards the area around Moscow. They reported that air defences destroyed more than 180 of the devices, while some people were wounded.

Officials said an attack the previous night killed nine people and injured 23, including a child. On Saturday night, Ukraine fired about 822 drones towards Russia, according to a regional governor, who said around 600 were aimed at Moscow and that the capital suffered “one of the most massive drone attacks in recent memory”. Seven deaths were reported across Russia.

On the same night, Russian strikes on Ukraine killed at least seven people and injured more than 39.

MoD Announces Large Drone Supply To Ukraine

In April, the UK MoD said it would provide Ukraine with tens of thousands of drones, including long-range strike systems, as its biggest package to date.

Lol, no, it means Russia gained 149 kilometres. They gained 382 and lost 233.

Try again.

Read it one more time. You don't seem to understand your own article.

LOL. Seriously... Go back to school.

Read my first quote. Ukraine has regained 600 sqm during this time.

Russian have taken 382 sqm..

The difference is right there, the answer is...

I don't hold my breath.. Can you make it?

The math is so simple that my kids could do it at 7 years of age.

I'm lost for words..

You should read it again.

"By way of comparison, ISW calculated that across the entire front line over the same six-and-a-half-month period, Russian forces lost roughly 233.74 square kilometres of ground even as they managed to seize or infiltrate only 382.98 square kilometres of new territory"

https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2026/08/14/kyivs-forces-retake-26-settlements-and-over-600-km2-in-southeastern-ukraine

Russia lost 233 square km, but it managed to seize 382 km of new territory.

Do you have problems with English or something?

Lol. I'm laughing so much.

LOL. Are you slow??

You are not reading the part where Ukraine gained a little over 600 sqkm.. It's even stated in the title of the article, in your link!!

It's simple math. Ukraine gained a little over 600 sqkm (615 to be more specific) in the southeast. Russia seized 382 sqkm over all the front. That means Russia LOST a total of 233 sqkm.. It's explained in the article!!

Do you understand what "LOST 233 sqkm" means, and what "EVEN IF THEY MANAGED TO SEIZE 382 sqkm" means?

Do you understand English? It's in the same sentence!

I, as a Norwegian, must explain plain English to a person from an English speaking country (well, surely you can't be..). Amazing.

I've met some less smart (now I'm kind) people in my life, but you top them all.

Good luck.

Though in the context of overall occupied Ukrainian territory, its little more than noise. And this is since January 1st.

Other claims differ. Zelensky came up with 745 square kms since January 1. The ISW came up with 623 square kms in the first 6 months, then less than 40 square kms in July.. The numbers actually don't matter that much; how much of that land has changed hands more than twice. And if you average it to daily gains, then you are at Great War rates of change.

Of course wars don't progress inch by inch. There are moments of sudden advance, sudden collapse

Ukraine can't defeat Russia, but neither can Russia win. But Russia has already lost. What Ukraine is trying to do is tip that Kremlin calculation as to whether its all worth it.

Russia apologists will no doubt chip in that its all the wicked West's fault, that the West has no interest in Ukraine and that the West is implacably Russophobic (boohoo, Russia moaning about how it feels to be gay). They will probably indulge in a bit of Whataboutism, copying the Soviet response to criticism during the war in Afghanistan.

Right. But as I said, these inches of territory aren't the most important thing right now. It's rather what happens behind enemy lines, Ukraine tightening the screw against Russian economy, by bombing a huge amount of oil refineries, the huge Wildberries company (which creates panick and a probable bankruptcy, even the bank they owe billions to will be in serious trouble), powergrids, and keeping up the pressure so Russians can't get their gasoline etc. All this while taking out their air defence, like the S-300 and S-400.

The Russian economy is in trouble, and Russian citizens, even in Moscow, are starting to feel the war very close.

Putin has his iron grip on his people, but protests are seen a lot more frequently now, and one day this may hit him in the face.

His fake election is near, and there is a big chance he must mobilize even further after the election, and that will not sit well amongst Russians.

Keep up the pressure, and Putin's bubble might burst, or maybe one of his own will finally end him. We will see, because Putin is preparing to keep the war up for years to come.

Russia has already won. Ukraine is a wasteland and will take decades to rebuild. This has pushed back any danger of Ukraine joining NATO and the EU for decades.

Before Putin started the war this was not far off. Putin got exactly what he wanted.

NATO’s founding principles, specifically the Article 5 collective defense clause, mean that admitting a country currently at war would legally obligate all 32 member states to enter direct military conflict with Russia. Consequently, major powers within the alliance, including the United States and Germany, have consistently blocked setting a firm calendar date for accession until a stable peace or diplomatic resolution is achieved. Unless Ukraine declares allegiance to Russia it will be at perpetual war with Russia. What do you think is the likely outcome here? Ukraine will cave, Zelensky will be gone.

You're in for a shock, lol.

They are being funded by European countries, and will continue to be so as long as they will fight Russia's aggression, so that's not a problem.

Russia on the other hand...

The problem is that "his own" are like him. Like Gaddafi, he has assembled a cabinet of weaklings and a military command full of failures, advanced, not by competance but how much fealty they have shown. If he goes, they all go.

Like Libya, and Syria, the end doesn't come from the centre; its not a Moscow White House citizen's protest as in 1993, it will come from the edges. The Libyan uprising started not in Tripoli, but in Benghazi. Syria disintegrated from the hinterland inwards.

Putin, through his stupidity, has contrived the situation that the West has been trying to avoid for years; the collapse of the Russian Federation. Right from the start, Putin selectively mobilised non-ethnic Russians, from the far east, from the Caucasus, in some attempt to spare people in Moscow and St Petersberg. The widows, the orphans in the Far East aren't getting the compensation payments, the free Ladas, the kitchen appliances they were promised. The life of a Russian in the east is very different from Moscow. And the Russian Federation isn't really a unitary state; its a federation, but a federation formed by the collapse of an empire, rather than the coming together of like minded Oblasts. It was enforced by Russian colonisers who were fearful of being ruled over by non-Russians. Chechenya basically only remains part of Russia through bribery. Truckloads of tribute are paid to Kadyrov, which funds his ostentatious lifestyle and his literal Gucci army (they wear boots by Gucci). If that money stops....

Putin repeatedly whines about the collapse of the Soviet Union as a terrible thing. The USSR was a rotten institution, like the 3rd Reich. The way it went was probably the best case scenario; relatively bloodlessly, and the nukes didn't end up in the hands of loons. But it left the old Russian Empire, now called the Russian Federation, behind. Putin's actions are contriving the worst possible outcome; Russia dissolving into a series of squabbling microstates, and the loons getting the nukes. The West has been consistent; Russia must not succeed in its expansionist ambitions driven by a man who actually doesn't understand history, but Russia must also not lose such that it destroys itself. But the West underestimated how dysfunctional the Russian government had become; that the Russian government had ceased governing for the betterment of the Russian people, but instead was working for the oligarch.

Putin himself might fall out of a window, but that will be followed by a Kremlin doubling down on its policies, even more incompetently, and various factions try to out-Putin each other.

The Joker is China. Its not in China's interest for Russia to completely dissolve (China is also full of non-Han minorities), but on the otherhand, China wouldn't mind Russia being chopped into bits, with new leaders more amenable for China's way of business, which is basically not rocking the boat. Plus a bit of border adjustment, because basically the Chinese hate the Russians, and now the boot is on the other foot. The Russians might think of themselves as Eurasians, but China just thinks of the Slavs as just another group of colonial Europeans.

All pursue their own interest. The rest has already been degraded. Britain is the broker and accountant, Germany the car waiter, France does luxury for arabs, I just hope nobody is crazy enough to go to war. When I hear these tales of drone fragments being found I have to think of 99 Red Balloons.

The people in charge of UK, EU etc are in no way patriotic or careing about the future of their countries.
They're just whores parasiting off taxpayers at the behest of big industry.
I've heard it suggested that the Financial Industrial Complex is using the MIC and Media to bring the war / surveillance to Europe and let the middle east be rebuilt.

Maybe you already heard about it - meanwhile russia is importing fuel from India, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Morocco...

Another one who has lost it. Are you too American? How come you guys know nothing about Europe?

European countries are standing strong, and Norway has taken over as the largest provider of gas/oil to Europe now. Russia was the largest provider before the full scale war started in 2022, they were bypassed years ago. Europe is fine, no doubt about that.

Absolutely right, all the above.

I'm baffled by so many ignorant comments about Europe at threads on this forum. They use to come from US citizens, who think they (and the US) are above all the rest. Makes me laugh.

Because their own oil refineries and stock are being bombed daily by Ukrainian drones.

Haven't you seen the long queues outside gasoline stations in Russia lately? The stations are limiting how much each customer is allowed to buy.

Now that the EU is in striking range of advanced hypersonic missiles, I'm sure we're going to hear massive wailing when Russian/Chinese tech combined with an Iranian proxy accomplishes exactly what the UK and the EU are currently doing:

UK/EU provides their Ukraine proxy with the weapons technology to "strike deep" into "the aggressor nation Russia" who started an "unprovoked war" with Ukraine.
But wait! Now?
Russia/China provides their Iranian proxy with the weapons technology to "strike deep" into "the aggressor nations of NATO" whose ally, The United States, started an "unprovoked war" with Iran.

If humans weren't such efficient genocidal monkeys, especially those from European ancestry, seeking endless war instead of cooperating with each other and leveraging trade into mutual economic wealth, we wouldn't be in this mess. Instead the US/UK/EU do what they been doing for centuries: engaging in colonial/imperial conquests to simply take what is not theirs to take. But even richer? They project their own violent natures on the exact countries they seek to overthrow and conquer, which after knocking off Libya, Iraq, Syria, Venezuela, and some nations in the Global South, now leaves Russia, China, DPRK, Iran, Yeman, Cuba, and Greenland in their immediate crosshairs. I can't wait to hear the casus belli for invading Greenland: "A Greenlander Inuit Eskimo deliberately harpooned a US nuclear sub!!! We must invade!!!"

This sh*te never ends, does it? For those rooting for the demise of Iran. I bet most of you don't have the most rudimentary understanding of Iranian history before 1979 which means you don't have a clue as to the colonial players who divided up the Middle East, including Iran, and then continued The Great Game right up until today. The current government has more right to govern Iran than any of their past colonial overlords or their compradore elite proxies and puppets.
