US Air Force Plane Turns Back After Russia Missile Alert

A U.S. Air Force transport aircraft bound for Antarctica turned back to Christchurch, New Zealand, on Tuesday after a warning about a potentially hazardous activity affecting international airspace.

The C-17 Globemaster, operating under the call sign ICE28, departed Christchurch at about 9:00 a.m. local time, before returning less than three hours later. The change was prompted by a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued at the direction of New Zealand’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Warning Issued by New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority

In a statement on Tuesday, the CAA said it had been notified of potentially hazardous activity by Russia’s state air traffic management organisation, which led to the issuance of a NOTAM to alert pilots.

On Wednesday, the agency said it had received further information from Russia about the hazard, identifying it as a planned missile launch.

“The [CAA was] made aware by the Russian air traffic agency of a planned missile launch and associated potential hazard to international airspace, within New Zealand’s Oceanic Flight Information Region (FIR),” the CAA said.

Oceanic Flight Information Region Covers High Seas

The Oceanic FIR is the airspace over the high seas that New Zealand manages under an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regional air navigation agreement.

New Zealand’s air traffic management authority describes the FIR as covering an area of about 30 million square kilometres, largely over international waters across the South Pacific Ocean, the Southern Ocean and the Tasman Sea.

Danger Area and NOTAM for Operators

The CAA said it established a danger area and issued the NOTAM to inform aircraft operators of the potential risk.

It added that the measure does not automatically block flights through the area. “This does not prevent aircraft from flying through the area; operators make their decisions based on the information available,” the agency said.

Part of Winter Resupply Flights to Antarctica

The C-17 flight was scheduled as part of the U.S. Air Force’s winter fly season. The mission involves moving researchers and essential equipment to Antarctica before the summer research period begins.

The aircraft is one of the operations scheduled annually to fly between Christchurch and research bases in Antarctica in both the United States and New Zealand.

What hostilities did the US start with Russia? Be specific.

the sanctions and embargo on the dead cheap oil and gas from russia should give you a good point to start pondering. I leave you to your conclusions. Have a nice life. Good Bye.

Are you referring to the sanctions imposed by the US on Russia after they invaded Ukraine?

So sorry to break this but in Europe and many other parts of the world, people don't give a hoot on politics and on who started it first...it's not a kindergarten quibble on who started first. But what's for sure is everytime somebody in Europe or elsewhere fills his gas tank in the car, pays for a plane ticket or pays at the cashier for groceries and see's how prices have increased all since those russian sanctions, america has forced on the cowardly governance of the european union...believe me it has the opposite effect. Hostility towards american politics and towards ukraine is rising more then one can imagine in many parts of Europe and this pushed people to vote for the far right that is also not so good a thing. So at the end of the day money rules at all levels and people are fed up with the american ingerence either in Ukraine or the Gulf that is hiking prices all over. Trump or no Trump does not matter.

Didn't Europe place sanctions on Russia and stop buying Russian energy?

Europe did it under the pressure of America as always under Biden (and now with Trump).

You do know Europe is also supplying weapons to Ukraine.

These are all proven facts, not opinions or research. Pick out one where i am wrong, because the evidence against you will be overwhelming. All I did was summarize the recent history of events and facts in my own words.

The only thing that is not sure yet, is if the big reset in 2030 will actually happen, as that is a future date.

For example, this BS:

"Another forgotten fact is that EU initially planned to move all farms to Ukraine, because it is not bad for climate in non tier 1 countries." 😀

Crickets..... 😂
