Dear Folks,

At this very moment, I have a Common Sun Skink in one of my bathrooms.

I don’t want it to die.

But, I am afraid of it.

I have closed the bathroom door, in order that it will not escape into my bedroom.

I have heard that these are wonderful, yet ugly, creatures.

The girl that comes to my house to clean will not arrive for two more days.

Until she arrives, what should I do?

Should I feed and water it?

If this animal were to die, due to my neglect, then I probably would not forgive myself.

However, this thing is just so very ugly.

THIS one is only 1/4 the size of the one in my bathroom. My bathroom skink is HUGE, comparatively.

I don’t think I am up to the task of grabbing it with my hand, and setting it free.

Why did this skink enter my bathroom, in the first place?

My house is almost SKANK-PROOF, or so I had thought.

Any help from the forum?

Note:  I think the skink took a wrong turn, inadvertently, when he entered my house. I am now reading-up on these animals. And, I realize these are both harmless and helpful to have around.

Note2: I hope this never happens again.

Note3:  This one is REALLY BLACK and VERY LARGE……

My wife would probably fry it and eat it with a duck egg.

You know, when you really get down to it.....

These skinks are actually quite beautiful.

I just mean: They are not poisonous. They do good around the garden.

It's all a matter of adjustment.

I am now very worried that this skink might run out of water, before Friday.

And so, I am now considering just opening my bathroom door, and letting him, the skink, enter my bedroom, or just wander around.

No doubt, some people love skinks, as pets.

What do you think?

If he got in he'll get out. many, especially in the country, We have these and other lizards entering homes. They can squeeze through a very small space to get in. They eat bugs but don't belong in homes, so you'll need to seal every possible entrance, after they're out. They'll travel in the attics, coming through the molding areas.

You're scared of it ! , they don't bite ,through a cloth over it and let it go outside,

until you let it go you wont be able to take a crap or shower ,so be brave....

I am also not a fan of 'skanks'. However, I think 'skinks' are very cool. Some of them are called legless lizards and easily confused with a small snake.

Fortunately, I have more than one bathroom in my house.

Also, I can always go outside, even if the skink will not.

He's already been in your bedroom, as the one was in mine, that was a foot long.

No way. Shove a bowl of water in quickly.

For those who are now overly worried about the skink in the bathroom:

Critical Limits: Going past 7 to 10 days without moisture causes severe, often irreversible organ and kidney damage due to rapid dehydration.

Therefore, the potential Friday release will cause no harm.

Also, he is a very fat one.

I think he will be fine.

Still, I am thinking about putting a saucer of water in there, just in case.
