US Strikes Iranian Tankers After Carrier Missile Attack

US Central Command said on Saturday morning that U.S. forces struck three Iranian crude oil tankers after Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps launched ballistic missiles at an American aircraft carrier and a destroyer.

In a statement, CENTCOM said the operation left two of the tankers permanently inoperable and completely destroyed a third. The command added that neither of the American warships was hit and that no service members were injured, while also saying that the apparent targeting of an aircraft carrier was a notable provocation.

Missile Launches Prompt U.S. Strike Response

CENTCOM said the IRGC’s ballistic missiles were directed at the aircraft carrier and the destroyer. It then described a follow-on action in which U.S. forces engaged the three Iranian tankers. CENTCOM said two vessels were rendered permanently inoperable and the third was destroyed, presenting the tanker strikes as part of its response to the missile launches.

It also emphasised that the U.S. ships involved in the missile attack suffered no damage and that there were no injuries among U.S. personnel, while noting the significance of a carrier being targeted.

Tankers Part of an IRGC “Shadow Network”

CENTCOM said the three Iranian crude oil tankers form part of a multibillion-dollar “shadow network” that funds the IRGC and its regional proxies. In the same statement, it said Iran had no means by which to defend the tankers that were targeted.

The command’s account linked the shipping assets to the flow of money that supports the IRGC and activities carried out through its regional allies, and it said the vessels were therefore vulnerable to U.S. action.

Economic Cost and Further Deterrence

CENTCOM framed the strikes as an effort to impose an economic cost in response to attacks on U.S. ships. Adm. Brad Cooper, the CENTCOM commander, said the message to the IRGC was clear: if it fired on two American ships, the United States would raise the economic price by taking out three Iranian vessels.

Cooper said the United States would not hesitate to defend American forces and that, if necessary, it would go further in destroying what CENTCOM described as Iran’s limited and exposed oil fleet.

Iran only needs one missile to strike its target and suddenly Washington’s “all under control” line looks pretty weak.

CENTCOM can boast about clean intercepts and smashing a few tankers in return, but that doesn’t change the fact that the IRGC just launched ballistic missiles at a US carrier group.

That’s a major escalation, and the Trump administration will have plenty to explain about how deterrence supposedly prevents this sort of thing.

Which carrier did the IRGC strike and sink? I must of missed that one on CNN.

I'm sure a direct ballistic missile hit on a US destroyer would be disastrous just prior to the mid terms......

What makes you think they can do it before the midterms if they can’t do it now?

Will their technology and financial resources increase in the next few months?

Striking an oil tanker is very clever Don, it is a very good way to fulfill your incessant campaign promises to bring down inflation for the average American. And the world.

3 tankers blown away

and a frigate as we say in the Navy…DEEP SIXED.

How many US vessels has Iran struck and sunk? You’re a little slow do I’ll give you a hint….0.

Still waiting for that Carrier to be sent to the bottom by your idol, the Iranian regime.

Do try and reply with legitimate answers this time instead of your typical “I hate Trump” diarrhea.

They can’t sink our ships because they can’t. Fact.

If they could they would have by now. Fact.

We (USA) on the other hand have sunk theirs. Fact.

Because WE can and DID. Fact.

The rest of your post. No facts.

If they can sink US anything, what will they do this with that won't be deflected? They watched their whole Navy and Air Force destroyed in a few days. I really think some here believe everything they hear about US capabilities, mostly from never living in the US or just wanting Iran, a terrorist regime to continue with it's actions.

The US has allies all over the world, and they've helped each other for decades, and it's surprising some of the citizens of these nations would actually like to see the US defeated, which would never happen anyway, at least as far as military is concerned. A negotiation between Iran and the US would favor everyone, and the US could leave Iran without having to destroy any more of their country.

Why Neglect Feels Like War

  • Forced Endurance: Citizens must fight for basic needs like clean water, healthcare, and safety every single day.

  • Broken Trust: When leaders ignore public welfare, people stop trusting institutions and rely only on themselves.

  • Constant Crisis: Infrastructure decays, prices rise, and people live in fear of the next disaster because there is no safety net.

The Difference in Leadership

  • Caring Governments: They build systems that help people grow, feel secure, and plan for the future.

  • Neglectful Governments: They leave people alone to face hardships, making normal life feel like a battleground.

  • That's the definition of what Iran's regime has been for decades, killing it's own citizens by the thousands when they want changes. Dictatorships have only one positive end in sight. Elimination of their leaders and immediate controlling genocidal followers..

Why do you conflate some people's wish for the US to end this futile and unwinnable war with support for Iranian state-sponsored terrorism?

I expect it from the resident MAGA trolls on here, and you're not one of those, so what's with the "your either with us or with them" nonsense?

Yes, America still has its historical global allies and, despite the rhetoric and bombast, once the incumbent at the White House has departed, they'll still be there and not with Iran.

Look at the answers of a few and you'll see. I think anyone not crazy wants this war to end. Most here aren't making those comments but just a hatred towards Trump, which I somewhat understand.

The US USED to have allies all over the world but thanks to TRUMP those so called "allies" are now countries run by dictators!

It still will, as they still need us like we need them. Those dictator countries need to oust their own leaders if they want peace. It isn't Trump's fault they have the maniacs in charge. He does enough damage already without their interference.

I haven't seen any members here stating they wish to see USA defeated, something you stated in your previous post, nor have I read of any leader of any of the US's allies saying it either.

What I do see here is the resident MAGA trolls, when challenged on their extreme right-wing stance, regurgitating the old, "you must love Iran, anti-Semitism, radical Islamization and men in women's sports" tropes.

I've seen it quite a few times. No leader has said it that I'm aware of, as that would be showing you're on the side of terrorists. If you look at who those Maga's are replying to, you'll see what a few have said.

Israel has their own agenda, and the US should do what they need to to stop Iran.s insanity and control of the Strait. Again, it's in their best interests also, but maniacs only care about satisfying their ideas ego and power, leaving out the benefits of their people.

I must have missed them, so here we go.

Will any member who condones the defeat and demise of the USA please clearly state that opinion here.

Thanks.
