One needs to look at where power truly lies in this country, both nationally and regionally. Then, consider what effective, or otherwise, measures are in place to provide checks and balances to that power. Then you will have a clearer picture of how Thailand works. The post mortem declaring drowning did not surprise anyone as they have unfortunately a reputation for overlooking the obvious !!! Eg several blood forced traumas ! Thankfully some pressure has been applied and they have not been able to hide the facts now . But what of those who have tried to again cover up an awful crime here on the island. Until People realise that they can not get away with these things i am afraid they will continue. RIP Kevin . Hopefully justice will be served. There are a couple of things that seem to stick out and make me wonder about this murder. The victim had a good business and appeared to be living a good life, what would have been a motive for him to commit suicide? I think not. Why would the victim’s wife keep insisting it was suicide? To end the investigation so that it would not be found who did murder the victim? Murder; Who benefits from this murder; wife who now has full ownership and control of the business and bank accounts? Why would the police be so quick to write this off as a suicide? Tourism; maybe, payoff from the killer; hummm. I would love to see the photos, they should tell a lot not only about the bruising but the lividity (where the blood settled within the body) would tell a lot about the position of the body just after death. "If you are murdered in Thailand there is a strong possibility the truth will never come out It will never be fully investigated" Fact is many Thais are victims and the assasin is never found or it is even deemed to be "foul play" by the police. Why do you think Thailand is top of the list of many countries (outside of war zones) of "Most dangerous places to visit".? Furthermore it's about time the FCO of the UK got off their asses and demand justice for British Citizens from the Thai government and tell them advice will be issued .to tourists . I suspect an autopsy or similar will not reveal much because there has been so much interference since the initial report. In truth, the reporting officer is either an idiot or he is intimately complicit, and several of his colleagues have some serious questions to answer. At best, it is gross incompetence/negligence and at worst it is aiding and abetting a murder. They're no better, but they wouldn't have had any prior involvement with any of the involved parties. That makes them infinitely more likely to find an "irregularity" than the Chaweng cops, who are as criminal as they come. Boater Posted May 31, 2011 Share Posted May 31, 2011 i think it is about time the samui mayor up his game, negative publicity like this is bad for samui buiness, just the posts on the daily mail are not looking to good how many british have been killed on samui with a police report of sucide or an ' Accident ' ? , i was once hit my a taxi, was put in hospital but luckily i got the taxt number, gave it to the police, did they do anything ??? NO... what if i had been killed? ...... the trouble with the police here is they are something out of the 60's police force in the UK, no training, corruption and the first man is always guilty, if he isnt, beat him to confess its all about education !, and samui being such a small island could benchmark itself it to becomeing a role model for Thailand ! IE non corrupt police, police who do a proper job, take way the corrupt airline, taxis, bars, restaurants ect ect.... fix all the roads, put in decent power, high speed internet , street cleaning teams, the list could go on Samui is slowly killing itself and it needs to address this before its to late ! The father of the guilty offender went straight to the local police and had the official report amended to state he was the driver and the girl was in the wrong. Her parents now believe she was involved in an accident of her own making (reported by the police who have taken 'tea money' from their local and influential friend. The boy has got away with MURDER. This scenario is typical in this crazy country. Pay money, get off scott free. RIP poor unfortunate victim of murder and grieving / lied to parents. Shame on you Thai police, you disgust me.
