  1. A good lawyer in Thailand is no different than a good lawyer anywhere else. A good lawyer will have talked to the judge directly or through channels prior to going into court. A good lawyer will know what is going to happen in the courtroom prior to you walking into it. Get a good lawyer.

I see it mentioned many times on Thaivisa. Get a good lawyer. Make sure you lawyer is good. But who are the best lawyers in Thailand? wheres the recommendations?

  2. Airwaybill Guide for DHL

And for anyone else thinking about using this shipper - make sure you get one of the above.

I still find it incredible you would trust ANY company with your goods without a some sort of Agreement form, signature and tracking reference, insurance value with T&C on the back. And quite happily accept a hand written receipt for them. ...

  3. I am sorry but i do not agree with you at all.

If DHL had nothing to do with it, they would NOT be ignoring OP.

They would have told him to go after the other company and clarified that this has nothing to do with them.

I think the other company is their contractor and DHL is liable as this is under their license, but they are well aware that the contractor most likely will not pay out and they would have to. So in good old Thai fashion, they are not saying anything in hope that this will go away and they will not have to pay.

I am sure once OP will start to make waves-they will respond and pay out.

I would even suggest to OP to get a lawyer and write a letter of demand to DHL (letter will cost only 3000 baht), where is the damage is much more and worth the battle.

At no time did the OP enter into a SIGNED contract with DHL for anything. The OP went to a shop that so happens to be a DHL reseller. Nothing more nothing less.

It's like Mailboxes in BKK they have a huge UPS sign as they are a UPS reseller does that mean if i go into their shop have something shipped by whatever method and it get's lost then UPS is responsible. Does it heck.

This company is not a contractor for DHL it's not even a partnership, franchise - nothing. This company is simply authorised to sell DHL products for DHL on a comission basis. Look I could open a shop tomorrow and setup a reseller agreement with DHL or UPS or whoever - anyone can do it!

The OP was scammed or misinformed. or misunderstood (Either by the Samui company as a whole, or whoever happened to be behind the desk that day when he walked in). Agree you show the DHL paperwork (Which he doesn't have) and then you have case with DHL otherwise forget it. Your wasting your time and money trying a legal battle over this with DHL.

Your legal battle if u so wish to do take this up is with the shop not DHL. Trust me if you battle DHL on this you will lose a lot of money through the legal system.

Judge: "First question can I see your DHL paperwork and agreement and insurance form with DHL"

    A. "Em. I do not have that but I do have this hand written receipt that says my goods will be sent by DHL and this dudes business card with the DHL logo which he took from the net and his Hotmail email address - so it must be legit."

DHL Lawyer: " Could you please provide the airway bill receipt and we will gladly pay out the compensation upto the declared value on the form"

    A. "Em. I do not have that either...."

    Judge: "Case closed"

And the more I think about it he won't even win a legal battle with the Shop unless he can provide written evidence from the shop that it is fully insured to the value of xxxxx. Which I don't think he has tor has not stated in the thread.

As hard as it sounds, The OP will probably have to put it down to experience.

  4. DHL, fedex and others dont have a hand written cash receipt as on you picture, they have a proper invoice with all details from the sender and reciever even as a tracking number and copmpany details and colour logo.

You recieved a Micky mouse invoice with the same service, service is not been done by DHL, payment is not been done to DHL and no invoice or paperwork from DHL as well.

Only thing you whent to a shop who also provide service for DHL.

    Good Luck to you.

Agreed. It pays to keep your wits about you when dealing with ANY business in Thailand.

    1. No DHL Receipt

    2. Price (The price you paid ties in with I'll get Uncle Som Chai's pickup and drive it up there for a few baht no way near DHL price)

    3. No Tracking number or airway/freight bill

    4. No DHL representative for packing or unpacking

    5. No insurance paperwork

It should have flagged the warning bells. I would stop concentrating your efforts with DHL because it will be a dead end and concentrate on the company itself which will also i think be a dead end.

Did you sign any insurance ploicy when accepting the services of DHL?

He did not accept the services of DHL, There was either miscommunication, scammed by the company reseller or the OP just asked to ship his stuff wrongly assuming that because he saw a DHL sign in the window that everything would go via DHL.

However the hand written DHL express on the reciept is just wrong - which points to a scam by the SAMUI COMPANY. NOT BY DHL they are a excellent company far superior to some of the others.

It is a shame to criticise DHL with this thread when in fact they have done nothing wrong and bring their name down. It's the rip off PERSON in the shop at the time or indeed the whole Samui company that should be being named and shamed not DHL.

DHL should be informed of this shippers practices and they will come down VERY VERY hard on them and remove their reseller status. They won't mess around when it's their corporate name at stake.

At NO time were you dealing with DHL Managers, Employees. The OP was dealing with Linehaul services staff. who happen to sell DHL products and probably fedex, ups, ems and thailand post products as well.

  5. Have you got a DHL tracking number that works on their online tracking service?

If no then you have been scammed if yes DHL WILL pay for damages if you provide the correct airwaybill and documentation and pictures of damage.

However I think because you were dealing with a DHL reseller you assumed it was processed through DHL which is incorrect. Where is the DHL airwaybill reciept u have ?? Shipping resellers ship by many means not just DHL or UPS or FEDEX. You were sold a lie.

Sorry but looks like your onto a loser.

Bottom line is if you do not have the customer copy of the airway bill it WAS NOT sent by DHL whether the retailer is a DHL reseller or not. Scam.

Also DHL do not offer a express service for that kind of shipment to large and would have to go by DHL freight. Your items were not shipped by DHL express mate. The price should have given it away 14,000THB is WAY to cheap for a DHL shipment of that size. DHL shipment of that size at a rough value would be around 60-100k.

The reciept you got is not a DHL reciept. They are falsely using the DHL Express logo on their business card as marketing ploy. Look at his email it's a hotmail account. DHL employees's do not have a hotmail account on their business cards.

You will get absolutely zero compensation or assistance from DHL. The best you can hope for is compensation from the reseller although unlikely and DHL will investigate the company with the intent of perhaps removing their reseller status. DHL will 100% accept liability for shipments sent through the DHL network from a official reseller with the official DHL paperwork and insurance paperwork.

  6. Is it just me or do the tours not work? I only see a pic of the ipad next to a coffee no matter what I clik.

    Think it's just you :)

Perhaps you don't have quicktime installed?

  7. Sorry let me clarify i was referring to the 3GS.

If you buy a NEW iphone 3GS with 3.1.3 firmware today from True, Dtac or anywhere else - You cannot Jailbreak

If you had a iphone 3GS and upgraded to 3.1.3 through itunes - You cannot jailbreak. (unless you had it previously jailbroken and used cydia to save your shsh).

So basically any new iphone 3GS you buy today with 3.1.3 firmware and the new baseband cannot be jailbroken. EVEN if you take it to MBK with 3.1.3 they will not be able to jailbreak it for you.

Every new iphone 3GS coming out from Apple is now 3.1.3.

This also applies to MC serial Ipod Touch with 3.1.3

  8. Hi,

Does anyone know which true shops around sukhumvit have stock of the iphone 3gs just now or is it more or less all stores now?

Also how is the True 3G performance? I live near the emporium sukhumvit 24 and was hoping to get 3G coverage from True on the iPhone in this area? I looked at the coverage areas on their website but feel no more enlightened. :) Anyone used 3G around the 24 / 31 emporium thonglor area

    Thanks

  9. In any case we feel "mudita" (that's Pali for "sympathetic joy") in knowing Khun Negreanu has a wonderful set of toys.

We hope Khun Negreanu will do good things for himself or herself, and others, with his or her computer(s), and develop his or her mind to its fullest potential !

    best, ~o:37;

    err..

  10. i7 is available from Apple its a configurable option under the imac Quad Core. No retail location seems to stock it in BKK so need go direct to apple from their website.

I went for the 3.06ghz Core2Duo version to use as extended desktop on the i7 quad core. Dual 27" monitors really works well. Not cheap but works very nicely.

Education store at apple online gives a fair saving as well. Buy the Memory and HD upgrades from OWC macsales.com rather than apple. Almost half the price.

  11. Looks like I will be picking up 1 or 2 of these.

If you take the price of say the DELL 27" LED monitor almost as good but slightly less pixel density and not IPS. (The only competition screen wise 2440x1440). It works out about $200 less expensive than the iMac 27". So pay $200 more than the Dell monitor you get a complete i series computer system!

How does apple do it for that price? Really must be the deal of the century computer wise. Even the asking price for say just the screen itself is still a good deal but attach a free computer its pretty impressive.

  12. Yeh it is the current 2009 model they are selling at the apple store just now. Seems to be updates due on everything but apple seem to this time be falling behind the competition with Mac Pro and Macbook Pro updates.

With the SSD, Second Graphics card and Apple Cinema display - still looks like a good deal probably even after the price drop.

I cant raise that much cash for it tho. So cannot buy it :)
