16mb True Premium. router sync'ing the line at 9400kbps/612kbps. A far cry from 16mb sync with the dslam.

True says the line quality is the best it can support and that I should downgrade to 10mb/8mb premium instead. Have not done this yet. Speedtests from multiple sources show that I am indeed getting max 9400kpbs.

SNR Upstream 15db

Attenuation up 2db

SNR Down 8db

Attenuation down 9db

Any ideas....I have heard switching to a Broadcom chipset router can improve results on poor quality lines. However to me the line attenuation on the above line is ok. but the SNR is very low???

Should I invest in a Netgear DG834, Speedtouch 536, TP-Link TD 8840 or Linksys WAG160N - will these broadcom chipset routers make a difference.

For those debating the i7 or i5 MBP, looking at barefeats.com latest comparison benchmarks there does not seem to be much in it at all.

For a 9% premium on price for the i7 although you do get a 512mb GPU instead of 256mb it is fairly hard to justify it.

Even with the upgraded memory on the graphics cards the FPS's are still very close.

Question for you boffins. At the moment True 3G is free as they're in the testing phase. I searched but could not find out how much it will cost.

My question is: If, for example, True charge 100 baht per megabyte download and I'm listening to a radio stream at 32kbps - how much will it cost me to listen for one hour? (to and from school trip)

What do you mean by True 3G is free? I have an unlimited data plan for 600 baht / month (iPhone 3GS). So it's not free.

No point paying by the hour for a 3G service defies the point. Better off as above paying the unlimited data fee and really enjoying the 3G service without cost worries.

Would recommend the new iMac either 21" or 27" ease of transporting back to Thailand. Worldwide warranty dual voltage and everything in one neat box.

Considering its a 27" ips monitor and the latest quad core processor and decent graphics card and memory the price is excellent.

No point you will not be ba able to use it here in Thailand on 3G service anyway as no network provider has micro-sims available. Also if you manage to get a micro sim in Thailand - their is a fair chance the 3G version will be carrier locked to AT&T.

Best option currently is the iPad WIFI and a True 3G unlimited service and use mywi on jail broken iPhone or an android phone such as the nexus to achieve the same result. Also saves you on two data plan subscriptions one for your ipad and one for your phone.

Actually the markup on the grey imports on the iPads in Mongkok Hong Kong is exactly the same. Not sure where u get 20% from US price for 16gb is around 16000thb. MBK price is 23500thb - more like 40%+ markup.
