  1. A brief bit about me. Me and my TW are both 25 years old. She has never been out of Thailand, I am from England or UK to make things easier. We have known eachother for over a year and been in a relationship since we met. Since december we have been living together in Bangkok. We married in May of this year.

I am to return in a few weeks to the uk as (as i have posted before) i am to do a PGCE (a one year course to become a qualified teacher). I do not have any assets and will need to live at my family home. I do not have much in the way of savings, as in not much i mean a couple of hundred pounds. I will be using student loans as well as maintance grants to support myself, although of course i have support from family in terms of living costs.

I would like my wife to be able to join me. I understand that it may be hard to get a settlement visa granted at the moment due to my situation, though not impossible and if worked on can probably submit a good visa application with supporting documents.

Due to the long process of the settlement visa and the cost, i did not know if it would perhaps be a better option to apply for a tourist visa for her to come visit. Though i am under the belief that if she were to be accepted for a tourist visa it would probably have been enough to have been granted a settlement visa as much of the criterea are the same.

Im just looking for any advice that could be offered, i am trying to do this alone and am finding myself becoming muddled at times. We are just a young married couple in love and i dont really want to be parted from my wife for a whole year, im just looking at what possible options i have for her to be with me during my studies (even if only for a short time).

Any advice is much appreciated, i understand some might say i have no hope, though i am looking more for pratical advice i may be able to use, more than give up.

  2. I dont know much but i know its of the princess mother. In 2009 they made a special 20 baht 108th birthday of princess mother coin. I would asume the 10 baht coin you have is slightly older although i cannot say its exact date or celebration. Perhaps my information may be used as a starting point on google

  3. cheers for the feedback. i taken it on board. i admit the not working is a downside. i may get cash in hand but have to leave that out. .... I am answering everything truthly. My main worry about the form is finance. Student finance will support me, and should be enough for her too. I guess its up to the person examining it whether they deem it enough. i will look for family support. I dont feel i have alot of options

  4. Just a brief bit about me. I am married to my thai wife. At the moment i am preparing to apply for a uk settlement visa for her. I am British. My current situation is that i gave up work and came to thailand as a 'hoilday' at the end of december. I am going back to the uk to go back to university and do a PGCE (to become a teacher).

The section i need help on is 8.7 sponsors current finances and employment. Im guessing i would have to put i am 'unemployed' as technically i am not a student until september (although i have been accepted already). Alot of the following questions i would have to leave blank if i were unemployed. Almost all the following questions would be left blank or have a no answer. until the last question which is 'how much does your sponsor spend each month on living costs' would this have to be now while in thailand or would it be projected for the uk?

Is it likley to hinder my application if i were unemplyed? Would i have to back up with evidence that i am on a vacation? Would it be best to say i am unemployed and then do a section of evidence about what i did, am doing now and going to do? I know this is a bit long, but i would really appreciate any help.

  5. Just a quick question. I am in the process of gathering documents me and my wife need for applying for a uk settlement visa. I heard that we need a certificate saying she does not have TB, is this true? i had not seen it written on the visa form as an additional document but i had read about it on here.

Also if anyone knows any other documents that are not standard and i may have missed please let me know if u have any ideas.

  6. I recently married. I am English and this was the process i did.

I went to the British embassy where i had to get an affermation to marry. This is a document saying you are free to marry and the embassy stamps it.

Then needed to get it translated to thai, many places round the embassies do this.

Then needed to get it certified. Took only a couple of days.

Took this, my passport, my gf and her id, house book and went to the amphur.

Married that day, with 2 friends as witnesses.

    Got given thai marriage certificate.

This marriage is 100% legitimate in Britain, the US, Austrialia (i asume then every counrty country).

Cermonies are different (sorry about spellings) they are just that, they are just the event. Even in a western wedding, walking down the aisle doesnt make u married, its the piece of paper u sign just after that makes it all legal.

If u want to know more cos ive just done it myself then feel free to message me, if not good luck to u

  7. Hope Land Hotel in pra khanong is really good. Its a four star hotel, really new. And has two english guys working there so communication is never a problem. A standard room is still top draw (cant really comment about the others as did not stay in them). One of the English guys works in the sales, and if u speak or email him, will cut u a discount really easily. Best thing was i could just talk freely to him and got everything i expected with nothing lost in translation.

  8. im currently watching the korea greece game with english commentery. www.iraqgoals.net

pretty decent stream, i think its coming off a Australian channel, but its and English guy commentating. Just hope the site doesnt become too popular, will mess up my stream :)

  9. It does happen. There is even a book about it, but due to the books content they had alot of trouble releasing it. its titled 'Guns, Girls, Gambling, Ganja: Thailand's Illegal Economy and Public Policy', can be found on amazon if anyone was interested. But of course children are kidnapped and sold into prostitution. Perhaps even worse are the children who are perfectly fit and well, having a arm or leg removed as they will earn more money begging.

At the same time, i dont know to what scale. Child kidnapping and smugeling is not uncommon in most developing nations.

  10. I think its a bit of a <deleted> post. Lacks much detail. How would anyone really know. If it were self defence it would be one thing, if it were her weapon another. If she had picked it up in the heat of the moment another case still.

Also a new poster. And you dont really seem to be checking the replys. Will prob just log in later to see how many people you managed to have respond.

Well i guess i added to that :)

  11. I wear any colour, perhaps avoid red at the moment. But being farang does mean you arent really anything to do with the whole situation and normally people wont even look twice. At most someone may joke about it but it would be very unlikly to be anymore than that.

  12. I would advise the psp, the ds is good and has more childish game, but i havent seen them so available here. The psp isnt too badly priced, though i understand ur concern that it would be alot of money should he grow tired of it in a week. Though i have never seen a child get bored of there games console (until a newer one come out at least).

Here most of the psp's are chipped or can be, and that means you get 100's of games for a few hundred baht. Though mr.sony wont be happy im sure ur child will, and i wouldnt have any concerns of them boring of it. To be honest anything cheaper out there isnt really worth getting.

  13. Chatuchak does have a couple of place. i got one from there a few weeks back. They were about 150 baht, but im sure u can do better if ur a good haggler. As to its exact location, i get lost in chatuchak and just stumble upon things. But either way they are there if u go there.

  14. Really entertaining thread, i particually liked the part about following thru. Never the less, if this is just a little bit of trolling (which i hope to god it is) then it was a enjoyable one. However, my god if u aint chatting make believe then got some serious issues. Need help my good man, or some balls, why let a man force u to massage. I understand running from a mugging, i not saying u did the right thing but its understandable. but in a bar full of people why allow this to happen and then pay the girls to remove him for u.

Like i said i hope ur playing, and ill take one of them beers if there going.

  15. to be honest ive been there the last few fridays as the not paying for beer is too go to turn down. But its been pretty empty. I believe it is relativley new and still trying to get its name out. The first time i went i was doubious that there was no catch. But aslong as ur getting ur drinks (male) between 9pm and 10pm ur have no bill.

  16. xperience bar, thong lor soi 8. On a friday is free drinks for men from 9pm to 10pm. There is absolutly no catch. Can come at 9 and leave at 10 having paid nothing and drank a fair amount. Should you be with a lady, they get free drinks from 10pm til close.
