  1. I dont believe it was all the cinemas, i think the ones at Major's do, i forget the name. Also i tried to go on a wednesday, they are very popular, and from my experience they were not showing all the films at 60 bhat, it was only a few of the Thai ones.

On another note, date night was a rather enjoyable film, i was a little unsure when my gf selected it. Granted wont be everyones cup of tea but i was pleasently suprised

  2. Do your own homework...

Little harsh as he is a newbie, though fair enough you have a point, the OP could have just googled it as i have done. look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martial_law, if u dont like wikipedia, just google it and you can read enough articals to make you a pro. Basically it give the military control, they can impose what they like, rather than normal rule etc going through parliment.

  3. I wanted to know where it is you have to go to extend your 60 tourist visa, i am under the belief that it can be extended by 30 days. Does this have a cost and is there anything you need to prove.

Also as a side question if after the extra 30 days, is it possible to get another 60 day visa when leaving and entering again, where is best (and cheapest) to go for this.

  4. Didnt think id get such a response, but thank you anyways. And also i am aware of the diference between fanta and oj, but never the less thank you for the warning. Looks like ill look out for Tipco then. I have seen a few of the street venders but they do tend to have pulp. And it really just isnt my thing

  5. Its just a personal preference, that i dont really like little bits of orange floating around in the juice i am trying to drink. At the same time if you like pulp then go for it, but personally i just like the juice to be just that juice.

  6. Granted not the most exciting topic ever (though i doubt the most dull). I simply want to know if anyone knows where i may get orange juice without the bits (pulp). The only i know of is the small bottles of tropicana found in 7/11 etc. But if anyone knew of a brand that is sold in tesco or something it would really help me out.

  7. People who just stop dead when they are walking immediately in front of you.

cannot agree more, this is most definatly one of my biggest peeves. Also when the person is walking and turns 180 degrees to walk back where they came (right into you) gets me too.

  8. I know the race card is a tough one. But this artical is clearly generalising African males to be made out to all be criminals. I wont comment further, as i believe if i dont like the post, i dont have to follow it. But to those unsure of if this thread is is racist or not:

'racism can be described as the belief that a certain race or races portray undesirable characteristics (i.e all being criminals).'

  9. Hope land excutive residence on sukhumvit 46 does, very nice place. Only been open about a year. Think for the 2 room suites you pay a fair bit, but they definatly have them. They have 2 english guy work at the hotel too so always very useful when enquiring. i got hold of one of the email adresses and the person was very helpful and quick response.

  10. never any problem. Only slight thing is i know sometimes they will take the long way round. But that depends if your travelling far or not, and hardly really a crime.

one thing i do like to do, is see how often the person on the licence thing by the passenger in the front actually matches the driver. I have had many occasions where it is not. Most of the time i dont care really, i have asked sometimes. Last time i asked he said the original driver was drunk at home after a 20 hour shift, so he was just covering a few hours in the night. He claimed that the car is running 24/7 which isnt a huge suprise.

  11. For a long time i was following this post, thinking i wish i had a great story for this post, something must have happend while i was here that others would find amusing. Nope i had nothing......until i remembered.

It was a few years back and i was at a bar, its a bit out of the way and you dont see too many tourists there. So anyways i was with some of my thai mates. One of my mates girlfriends mates had taken a liking to me.

So after an enjoyable time at the bar, it was time to leave. She asked me back, all was going well.

We ended up back at her apartment, not too far away, again no problems here. Then it got a bit more heated. Anyways, being the young man i was, i wasnt really thinking i was going to get lucky and hadnt brought any rubber.

Being Thailand thank God there was a 7eleven on the corner. So i put my shirt on said no problem ill go get some, ran down the road, got them fine. Had her small key for the main door, ran up the stairs.... then i had the thought what floor, at this point i was standing on the 3rd floor condoms in hand, with a confused security guard who had been doing his rounds. I though its got to be the 4th floor, so headed up, security guard following slowly. Get up there and again what room, i tried the door i was sure of.

At this point the guard is at the end of his corridor with his flash light as im banging on the door praying it opens. Thank God it opened, only it wasnt who i was expecting, where i had left a young 20 something, this was a women who was pushing her 60s. What a picture my face must have looked.

Id only gone and got the wrong door, i apologised as best i could, and then proceeded with banging on the next door (probably not the best idea to gamble on doors in a building with many).

So i was standing there knocking on a door, with a guard pointing his flashlight at me, it opens, its the right one, ive never dived through a smaller opening. I was in a panic, she was looking at me oblivious to it all.

    Had a happy ending.....and i was not longer a virgin :)

  12. A broken leg at 100,000 Baht.... doubtful. In relevant terms, that is like saying a broken leg would cost 30K USD to have sorted out in the US. While all things medical in the US is crazy high, it aint that high. So either you are making things sound less than what they are (broken leg = fractured pelvis, requireing extensive invasive surgery) or she is full if fluff

Possibly was a fracture, did not get the full report, and it was 2nd hand information, lady pointing to leg, and arse, so quite possibly fractured pelvis, and of course they see a farang, and go to the most expensive hosital in the area.

just to help the converstation flow rather than a argument, thought id just point out that actually 100,000 bhat is about 3,000 USD, and although i dont know the exact costs of medical care. This does not sound too unreasonable

  13. there are plenty out there. Depends mainly what you are looking for. I have a friend who works at www.hopelandhotel.com and have stayed there before, it is very nice hotel. Very clean, staff speak fluent english (guessing thats your language). Booking on agoda.com seems cheapest for most hotels. Think they can get the best rates being a popular hotel reservation website.

If you liked the look of it feel free to pm me, i could ask him if they got any sort of deals to fit your needs.

  14. My girlfriends friend met a nice kind farang, he pays her monthly even though she still works, he wants her to give up because of the hours. I know first hand she has a couple of other boyfriends, people more her age. I feel sorry for the older guy, but its not really my place as i dont particually know him. All i know is many of my nights out have been funded in some part by him.

I dont give my girlfriend any more than she gives me, sometimes ill get a bill or pay cinema, other times she will or we'll split it. Helps that we're the same age granted. And i dont really have money to be giving away.

From what i know there is no chance she was making 30,000. no way. then again if it was you call for her to give up work 20,000 is kind enough. If she wants you to up it just say its all your giving and she can get some work if she wants a raise. All in all though its your call and i guess no one will know whats going on better than you.

  15. If it is a well run hotel, it should absolutly have a policy where by you can cancel your stay with them and still keep your deposit. Most hotel allow this until 2 or 3 days before your expected check in. It would be very rare for it to be longer and thus make you loose ur deposit. If there is more complications than this, i agree that contacting your credit card company is a wise idea.

But remember above all no buisness likes bad press (well at least they shouldnt), get hold of someone who can actually make the decissions. Dont accept the receptionist or Sales team etc, get hold of the General manager, should he be usless try about him, though contact is hard.

From what you have said you seem to be in the right so things should work out for you in the end, at the very least being able to walk away from the deal with all your money

  16. I know there are much more pressing issues in the world, and here in Bangkok right now for that matter. But does anyone know why on the BTS line there is no station N6, the number is just missed out (if you dont follow each station has a number eg, Ari = N5, Thong Lo = E6, Ekkamai = E7. There is also the missing number of the station S4. I know you may think im a man with a little too much time on my hands here at work and youd may be right. But getting the BTS everyday it is something i cant help wondering about now. Metioned it to my girlfriend so now it bugs her too (always have to share the pain, like a annoying note in a song).

    Any ideas?

  17. Have the UDD advised what time their rallies will commence? I'm particularly interested in knowing about the one starting in Lumpinee.

most things seem to be kicking off from noon (friday). Thats when it has been said that the road blocks on certain roads will come into force.

  18. I was wondering if anyone knew or had read anywhere, if any places particually clubs and bars are going to be open or closed during the protest dates. Id imagen ones around the particular meeting points are likely to be affected, but i was wondering about places such as RCA and clubs around Sukhumvit such as Bed club and Funky villa. If anyone knows would help me to know for what to do at the weekend.

  19. yes, there is one that was incredibly cheap called the asha guest house its more towards the Saphan Khwai BTS Station, however no real distance to Mo chit. I work in the hotel industry and found it on this website: http://www.hostelbookers.com/property/inde...propertyid=9772

I cant say for myself how good the place is, just go by the reviews, but im certain you will not find cheaper around there, under 5 euros.

I realise u posted a while ago so i hope this can still help. P.s our hotel is on there too 'Hope Land' ;P
