  1. The nice thing about thailand is that the junk food is more expensive than the native thai food from street vendors. Tasty, quicker than mcdonalds back home, healthier and cheaper, (not to mention it doesn't make you feel sick after eating it) it's a major reason why I'm here!

I agree with this, it is useful junk food costing more than the healthy option. In the UK a mcdonalds or cheap chicken shop are cheap and quick. Where as i would need to pay over double for some sushi or even a salad would cost the same as a mc D's.

Perhaps a tax on junk food would be a bigger deterant, as it isnt really right to dictate what people should eat. But i think it is fair like with ciggerrets and alchole, to tax these items which harm an individual.

  2. Korean comedy's can be suprisinly good. I say suprised as comedy isnt always an international lanuage. But one called sex is zero was really good, though u have to be immature i think to like it, its simular to american pie style humor.

Old Boy was a brilliant film. I also like 2046, i think that was the name.

Asia is very good for its horrors, not really my cup of tea although i seem to still see my fair share. Most modern western horrors are taken from japanese and even thai horrors.

  3. Been going a while but i dont know if ur into peep show - Absolutly brilliant. Other current would be Gavin and Stacy, ive not followed the series, but it is very popular.

there is ricky Gervis's other series called Extra's. That was a couple of years ago. And although not really current 'the royal family' was a very good comedy. Hope these help, i prob can come up with more but would need time to think

  4. Everyone talks about how much we've spent too in the press, which is true. However they seem to ignor the fact that united have given us alot of money over the last few season, think about 50 mil for berbatov an carrick together. I dont know how much we made out of the whole keane to liverpool thing, but still think we came out of it with a few mil. We recouped alot of what we paid for bent (we aint the only crazy ones).

On another note once we do our clearout, i think a researve keeper is a must, but i dont think this will cost too much or be a real back pager. I do see us getting another striker to have with defoe and crouch. Pav had a very good 2nd half of the season, but i dont know how long he'll be around. A likeable player, but not one we couldnt easily forget. Still think cole on a free too would make a very good squad and a strong statement.

if anyone reads the gossip collum on bbc how many rumours must there be a day, and how many actually go through. Also have u noticed how our strike has been the one department in the last few years that was very strong. But we are forever linked to strikers and more strikers

  5. In fairness, there are many player we can offload and make about 10-15 million on that wont affect the team at all. If we got rid of:

jenes (hasnt done anything- although injured most of season),

Keane (love the player, but we can do without- and might be worth a fair bit selling now),

o hara (i like the player but again dont need),

Hutton (looks like he'll be gone, we got two right backs, an kaboul too so wont be missed an worth a pretty penny),

tarabbat (r madrid are going to give us 20 mil for him :) but again getting a couple of million from the french second division team will be nice)

Dos santos (would love to have had this guy have a run in the squad but i doubt he'll be back, i did read a good artical that suggested people love him more cos of coming from barca and his name, if he was Stan Jenkins dont think we'd be botherd where he goes).

Maybe there are others, but i think most will agree that we should get a fair bit of money offloading these players with little affect on the team, and the money gained from this alone could bring us in a couple good signings.

Never been sure about Bellamy, though in fairness he has proved his worth at most clubs hes played for. Joe Cole would be a huge signing, think getting him for free would be perfect, cover our left (in absence of Bale). Do need another keeper, maybe a big midfield signing and striker. Defence we are ok, well coverd, but too injury prone.

  6. I was wondering if one of you who has been married in Thailand could answer me a question. Me and my girlfriend are going to get married next week, She wants to take my surname. I was wondering if the name on the blue house book has to change or if she can keep her original name on there. Further to this where is it she would need to go to change her Thai ID card. And as so can she change the name on one without the other.

Any response would be great, and sorry for intruding on ur forum

  7. i was looking at this post, thinking i wish i had a great story for this post, something must have happend while i was here that others would find amusing. Nope i had nothing......until i remembered.

It was a few years back and i was at a bar, its a bit out of the way and you dont see too many tourists there. So anyways i was with some of my thai mates. One of my mates girlfriends mates had taken a liking to me.

So after an enjoyable time at the bar, it was time to leave. She asked me back, all was going well.

We ended up back at her apartment, not too far away, again no problems here. Then it got a bit more heated. Anyways, being the young man i was, i wasnt really thinking i was going to get lucky and hadnt brought any rubber.

Being Thailand thank God there was a 7eleven on the corner. So i put my shirt on said no problem ill go get some, ran down the road, got them fine. Had her small key for the main door, ran up the stairs.... then i had the thought what floor, at this point i was standing on the 3rd floor condoms in hand, with a confused security guard who had been doing his rounds. I though its got to be the 4th floor, so headed up, security guard following slowly. Get up there and again what room, i tried the door i was sure of.

At this point the guard is at the end of his corridor with his flash light as im banging on the door praying it opens. Thank God it opened, only it wasnt who i was expecting, where i had left a young 20 something, this was a women who was pushing her 60s. What a picture my face must have looked.

Id only gone and got the wrong door, i apologised as best i could, and then proceeded with banging on the next door (probably not the best idea to gamble on doors in a building with many).

So i was standing there knocking on a door, with a guard pointing his flashlight at me, it opens, its the right one, ive never dived through a smaller opening. I was in a panic, she was looking at me oblivious to it all. all well that ends well

  8. Careforre has small bottles of strongbow, but for me the price is too much for the little bottle u get. This is the Careforre by onnut. I do miss cider, when i was in england wasnt one of the things i thought id miss. The cider out here is just too expensive (i know peoples budgets vary).

  9. Thanks for the links, i think bilbobaht has missed my question somewhat, as i was mearly asking if as i am at work all week, if my gf can take my affirmation and translation to get legalised. As there are agencies that do this for you, i realised that this is in fact ok.

Nice rant never the less. Otherwise thank you for the responses.

  10. I have been to the british embassy and got the affirmation to marry, i then went and got the translation done. All this was very quick and easy. The next step is to go to get the stamp of approval on the sworn translation, i need to go to the same building as the immigration.

My question is, do i have to be present or can my gf take the affirmation and get the stamp done? Is there any time limit from when you get the translation done for you to take it to the consular?

Fianlly does anyone know the cost of the marriage. Not the wedding, just to go to a ampher and register a marriage?

    thank you

  11. I tell you now, tagged and datingasia are just full of easy girl, ur only gonna get a girl from there after money or a one night stand. gonna be hard if ur looking for dating off most internet sites.

If u know what ur doing, its just too easy. Im happily in a relationship, but my mate gets all his entertainment that way. I didnt believe how easy it is until he showed me.

  12. Today there was a artical about thai bumper stickers in the Bangkok post.

The picture of the guy is Al Pacino, playing the cop Frank Serpico from 'serpico'. The movie came out in 1973 the same year October 14 events that saw massive student protests against thailands military government. He represented the ultimate good cop, against corruption. This lead to the sticker being a popular icon, they driver either knows the meaning or just thinks its cool.

The one with the rescue guy carrying the woman - he is sometimes seen walking away from view or towards. This is a symbol of Bangkok rescue workers/ body collectors. Vehicles with this sticker USUALLY imply that the owner is employee or volunteer for an organisation such as Ruam Katanyu or the Por teck tung foundation.

The lady with the panties - The women is supposed to have just had sex, and the meaning behind the symbol is 'job done' the idea someone with this sticker implys 'i am the man who can finish what i start'.

there are more explained but i dont have pictures so there is no point writing them out. Either way hopes this answers a few questions.

  13. Got to say we have to beat Bolton really, but i dont see it being a problem (though i hope not in the same way i didnt see portsmouth as a problem in the FA cup). Man city game isnt a sure thing, but it isnt for either team, gonna be whos up for it more on the night.

Some of the things i like discussing are potential score lines and who should be in or out of the squad. But you do have to love the transfer rumours, particually as spurs get linked to everyone. Never understood why we are always linked to strikers, even though for the past few seasons always having about 3 top strikers.

Just to add, im from london, England. though working in Bangkok for the time being. But always have my spurs shirt with me.

  14. Did u want a break down of every country or a select few?

At the time of the 2001 UK Census, 16,257 people born in Thailand were residing in the UK.[1] The Office for National Statistics estimates that, in 2008, 30,000 Thai-born people were living in the UK.[2]The UK is home to the largest Thai expatriate community in the world outside of Asia and North America.

Los Angeles, California has the largest Thai population outside of Thailand. Roughly 66% percent of all Thai Americans live in Los Angeles. It is also home to the world's first Thai Town. In 2002, there was an estimated 80,000+ Thai immigrants living in Los Angeles.

thats a couple of things i got, but yeh it does seem to be a little difficult if u wanted all countries, if u want just a few big ones, u can normally find the figures if u look at the right places.

  15. I guess we have to win all the 3 games left to get 4th. Though hopefully other teams will slip up. though we destroyed them at the lane, im not fancying city away. Though with recent victories over chelski and the woolwich arsenal i fancy us for anyone.

As a side note i didnt say we were not a massive club, i mearly refered to us not being so well supported in thailand. And im a london boy.

  16. Sorry i been on TV a while and only just ventured into the football section. dont know why cos i love talking about spurs, and not being a huge club out here, dont really have anyone to talk at :)

So do u lot think we'll do it for 4th. IMO alot rides on the game we have against man city, asuming all the 4 teams aiming for 4th win all there games. villa vs city should knock one of them back in the race. Personally i really dont want liverpool to get it, perhaps i just want a change up there, but i really dont feel like they have deserved it this season.

  17. "Aoccdrnig to extnesvie rseeacrh conudcetd at Oxofrd Uinervtisy in Enlgnad, it deosn't raelly mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae.

bloody hel_l that actually worked, i just read through that as if it were written correctly. was supprised how easily too.

  18. in a nutshell, sounds like ur really hung up on the tattoo thing, so if u aint gonna look past it tell her to go <deleted> herself. Dont know what ur qualms are with tattoos really, but if it aint ur thing and u aint gonna get other it then move on, and stop this thread going another 10 pages.

think ur being a little over the top about it all, but it ur life and ur call. so go make the choice. much love

  19. When you are getting a new passport. It is best for you to not send it directly. Take it to the british embassy. They send all the passports themselves to HK where the passport is processed and then sent back to the embassy where you can collect. I think there was also the option of having them send the passport back directly to your home.

There is a small cost of the sending to HK by the embasy but no different really than doing it yourself.
