Story Of My Thai Citizenship Application
saakura replied to dbrenn's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Hello friends, I had my NIA interview in Aug 2020, it was during strict Covid lockdown and held at an outsourced co-working office space named KoKreate in Pradhipat road. I have not heard from anyone since then about the MOI interview. I have never contacted my SB case officer since I was not in a hurry, but I am now getting anxious. Is there anybody here who had his NIA interview around the same time? I was eligible both by way of marraige and PR (5+years), but chose the marriage way. -
Just braved a few days with the Mrs family
saakura replied to Kenny202's topic in Family and Children
My experience is totally different from OP. Met my wife who was doing an internship in our office while pursuing a Master's degree. I had joined a few years earlier, having been transferred from my home country where they had an office. Now married happily for over 20 years and ageing together, child is almost independent soon. She has brothers who are equally doing well and her mom stays with one of them. We meet very often for family dinners, respectful to each other and never any issue about money. I am the only one in the whole extended family who drinks (beer). I can read and speak fluent Thai, and most of them including my wife can speak good English. No wide age gap between myself and wife, maybe that also is a factor. All said, it has been great to be working and living here for almost 30 years, and looking forward to retiring happily in a few years time. -
Is it humor or just just a bad choice?

You think too much...not good for your health. Just relax & chill, no zombie army is out to get you. -
How did you meet your wife? First words?
saakura replied to Neeranam's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Met her at the workplace, a large Multinational Company in Bangkok. don't remember the first words. I had been working there for several years when she joined. Worked together for several years as lower level executives, but in different departments. Got closer at a colleague's mother's funeral as she offered to take me in her car (no google map those days!!). Married over 20 years and both still working in the same company at top management level and looking to retire in the next 5-10 years. Life has been good, very good indeed. -
Health ministry proposes monetary incentive for second child
saakura replied to snoop1130's topic in Vietnam News
388 USD incentive to have a second child!!! Seriously, one has to be totally dumb to believe this. It may just be enough to feed the baby for a month or two. What about the remaining years till the child starts earning? Expenses will go up as the child starts schooling. 388 USD a month till adulthood may incentivise some couples to have more babies. -
What SE Asean country has the most National holidays?
saakura replied to ASEAN NOW News's topic in General Topics
Correct. I work for a large public company listed in SET-50 and in the last 2 decades, it has never been more than 14 days in a calendar year. -
Udon police arrest Swiss expat who killed armed intruder at his home

If that story is true, sure he should be rewarded. But it has to be investigated and confirmed first. -
Ukrainian woman killed as ice delivery pickup wipes out
saakura replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Sad, very sad. She was just 30 years old and not even riding on the same side or direction. Life wiped out in a moment. RIP, and hope some young child has not lost a mother.- 91 replies

How much of a scam is this?
saakura replied to HandsomeTallFarang's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Could it be that he is selling a used product, or does he specify that it is new. -
So you don't support mask wearing also?

I live in mid-Sukhumvit very close to Thonglor, lots and lots of restaurants, clubs and pubs serving food. Young, affluent youngsters and rich, psuedo-rich living it up. More alcohol, more boisterous and loud. I don't think there is a different license for a family type restaurant and the types i mentioned.

How do you limit patrons to 'a glass of beer with the meal'? That does not help spread Covid, but saliva spewing loud talk, boisterous behaviour with groups of friends drinking jugs of beer does!

This sort of thing is probably going on only in the mind of this doctor, to get some attention. I know a lot of Covid recovered persons, none of them faced any discrimination.
