Thailand is full of violent gangs. Japanese Yakuza, British/Australian/Danish biker gangs, Chinese criminal syndicates, etc. It is a magnet for criminals from all over.

Near a place I frequent, I have also been observing a group (4-5) Chinese workers who have been working very diligently completely renovating an old shophouse into a Mala restaurant. They are quite skilled and doing all the cementing, tiling, wood work, glass windows, painting by themselves. But they definitely seem to be co-owners and not hired labourers. They speak Chinese and very basic Thai.

Unless it was an open sewer he fell into, how can an adult man fall/jump from the 3rd floor and get stuck in a drainage pipe? More likely to have been murdered and shoved into the drainage pipe. Sad end to someone's life on a day when everyone would have been celebrating a holiday.

What a horrible thing to attack an 80 year old man. They were 6 of them and could have easily just taken his money and vanished. What was the need to beat him up so savagely? I hope all of them are caught, shamed in public and then jailed for a very long time. 😠
