  2. If you are scared of slipping, look for a wheelchair friendly parlour ask for getting everything done while sitting on the wheelchair. Maybe they can wheel you under a shower instead of lifting you into a tub.
  3. Book the cheapest flight, buy small bottle at duty free after check-in and drink it on the flight if you unable to go without it for few hours.
  4. General elections are due in less than 12 months, so huge loads of cash stashed abroad will need to be brought back and converted to Baht for buying votes, so we can expect this to drop a bit more and be at that level for a while.
  5. Just read this news and posting it here for general information of forum members +++++ Cash-strapped Sri Lanka announced on Tuesday it would sell long-term visas to attract desperately needed foreign currency after the island nation ran out of dollars to pay for food and fuel. Foreigners who deposit a minimum of $100,000 locally will be granted permission to live and work in Sri Lanka for 10 years under the “Golden Paradise Visa Programme,” the government said. The money should be locked in a local bank account for the duration of the stay, the government said in a statement. “This scheme will help Sri Lanka at a time when we are facing the worst financial crisis since our independence,” media minister Nalaka Godahewa told reporters in Colombo +++++
  6. I opened a FCD (Foreign currency deposit) account in my name at Kasikorn bank a few months ago and made a few transfers each over 100k usd (self to self transfer) without any problems. I am sure there is some misunderstanding between you and the bank.
  7. I joined in 2010 when I found it while googling for some information. I registered as I found it both useful and sometimes entertaining. I don't hang around the forum all the time. Only when I need some help/information, or some evenings when I am having a beer and not in a mood for Netflix, Youtube Etc.
  8. There is a famous person in Bangkok who may be interested in borrowing them.
  9. CCP and their massive ego is preventing them accepting the reality and changing the approach and slowly abandon the zero covid policy and importing quality MRNA booster shots. And Xi is expecting to get relected sometime this year for a third time, so not going to take chances. Feel sorry for the locals who have endured for 2+ years now.
  10. Yes, and after the file goes back to SB, you can keep checking with the case officer until SB sends it to the MOI. And that is when the really LONG wait starts....expect 15-24 months. I am also on this long wait now, over 14 months now.
  11. "After the session - and already very drunk - he took a friend home on his motorcycle and was going back along the service road when he and a colleague were ambushed." ???????? He should be banned for life from riding or driving
  12. Gangsters like these would be actually spending huge amounts of their illegal wealth enjoying here.
  13. Take your bottle and a plastic cup in your carry-on bag. After checking-in your bags, you can on the pavement outside and drink it before entering, if alcohol is not allowed or sold inside.
  14. Bars are also selling very very cheap now, if you have the appetite to buy now and wait patiently for a couple of years.
  15. As long as the process is in place, I am not in a hurry as I have a job and still a few more years before I am culled (retire ????), will surely update if I happen to call and ask them.
  16. "All Indian religions assert it to be a state of perfect quietude, freedom, highest happiness as well as the liberation from attachment and worldly suffering and the ending of samsara" Indian, Thai or Hindu, Buddhist. Most importantly, they teach that it has to come from within you.
  17. For those questioning the need of using a maid, maybe OP is in my situation? Both me and my wife are working full time, and have had a maid since the last 20 years we have been married. Couldn't do without one, even though the child is grown up now. Full time live-in maid cooks 3 meals (carry lunch from home), keeps the 3 bedroom condo clean and does the laundry. A full time job, if you ask me. When I retire in a few years, though I will have all the time, I do not think I (or my wife, when she retires few years after me), will be able to ever do these chores properly. In central Bangkok my expenses for the maid are 20,000 Baht a month and is good value, she takes very good care and is like a family member.
  18. I had my SB interview sometime in mid-2020 and then the NIA interview (at their temporary rented co-working space at KoKreate on Phahonyothin Road) in August 2020. Shortly after that, my case officer informed me that all documents have been sent to MOI and I should wait for an interview call from the MOI and SB have no influence on that. I am getting anxious as 18 months have passed without any news, is this normal?. @David143 has mentioned above about an MOI interview held on 19th Jan 2022. Would anybody know when this batch had their NIA interview? By way of information, on SB recommendation, I applied on the basis of being married to a Thai national even though I also qualified on the basis of having a PR for over 5 years. Will that have any effect? Thanks for any help!
