  1. Where do Hua Hin expats go for extensions of stay and other related immigration items? I assume there is only one immigration office that covers all of the Pracuap Khiri Khan province down from Hua Hin to Bang Saphan Noi and location is in /hua hin.

  2. Good questions NS. I think it's just a matter of how she presents her itinerary to the embassy. thaiburymac far more of an expert than me on this. So she most certainly can go on her own merits with what she has right now but I would leave himout of the mix in that case and vice verse. I'm not sure which is best but both worked for many and these immi guys are pretty astute.

  3.

If the OP decides to carry the cash he could loose the lot if he is not careful at the airports in the UK and Thailand. There are many who make their living extracting cash from bags, pockets etc at all airports - it happened to me once in Hong Kong. However if you bring in the cash make sure you have clean notes with no creases, tears etc. A money changer in BKK refused to buy 2X$A100 notes from me because there were slight tears in each note. The reason - he could not pass on to anyone wanting to buy $A.

news about people doing what you're about to do is all around now also. I just saw some today on a major global network so expect a lot of questions and post examination and checking. if your prepped for that then go fot it. the thai side would be the least of my worries

ok you say he could LOOSE the lot.I guess what youmean is that the lot might become loose on his person and fall out of his pocket somewhere like the bathromm. yes possible

botton line is that carrying that much cash in person is not the way to do it unless you are pals with superrich or something.

Basnk to Bank is the only way unless these funds are from a dubious source and obtained in some unorthodox manner. so quite simply you transfer to your Bangkok Bank branch who plop it into the bankok bank here and bingo there's youe cash at a nice rate. What you are about to do I wouldn't ever do. I would never breach the $10,000 USD mark carrying money on my person. oh but hey you do what you wat though.

  4. yes I remember you quite well from the gout threads I researched as I have gout and it flares up once in a while. I remember being surprised seeing you in those threads as your age and gender gout is not normally a problem. sorry for your current condition but hopefully you can get it cleared up.

  5. The key is does she own land,or A business? It's not about you,it's about her.Maybe try A fiancé visa might be A better way to go.

A fiance visa is only viable if they plan on getting married within a specified amount of time.

If she names him as the person she is traveling and staying with then it is about him. He has to show stability, physical and economic ties to Thailand. This is a key reason for her to return to Thailand.

Yes exactly and thru this entire thread I see impoertant info missing, straight away, cheers.

how old is the OP, has he lived in thailand long? how and when did he meet his gf? this kind of info is important. he calls himself a lazy american't. so does he work in the usa and simply vacation here? I'm confused about him because he is important as this visa appears to be based on his situation as much as anyone else

oh straight away and cheers btw. answers to these questions will help greatly with answers to your questions

  6. Thanks for the replies guys. I will not be relocating from my home country and the doctor I see here has already said he is not able to prescribe any more than one months medication.

Google says I can get it in Thailand , but confirming this would be nice. The cost would also be very handy to know.

    Thanks again.

Google is wrong and peddling wrong outdated info. sure even just a few years ago things were different. In 2000 you could get any of those meds by the jug. All were squeezed out and quickly so it's best to just realize this istead of hoping for this outdated pipe dream. We're on the ground here in BKK and know for a fact it's not available OTC.

  7. no there are no exceptions for you period.I should know because I lived in thailand from age 41 to 52 (present)

with similar income and wayyyy more asset cash. I took it upon myself to do tourist visa runs for 9 years until

I turned 50 and also got married at the same time. So you can do the ED visa thing now as so many do but there's no

special exception for you. I struggled to do 8 years of tourist visas ranging from consulate to consulate, triples, the a few doubles then down to single entries. its harder now. my 1st 3 years were triple entry but that option off the table. at the end red stamps came into the picture but I missed out, barely. have fun. you can do it but there aint no ez way out

  8. I've been lucky and had 3 top dentists offices in bkk do most of my work and my teeth have always been a mess. I got cleanings at 2 other places when i happened to pass by with 1 offering whitening which I turned down. my 1st experience was my 1st year here was a filling that fell out.I had him fill and do a cleaning and was pleased. this was on Asok (not BKK smile but we'll get to them later). he moved to chit lom but i never could find his location when i needed it. he was super pro and i may have paid 2000 but no more and he shot a set of xrays with nothing remotely looking like a scam. then 5 years go by with random cleanings when I happened to walk by an office in the city. I never used these places for anything other than cleanings. they were in Lat Prao, baiyoke, suan plu when I'd get exts sometimes and fortune area. these were dingy regular looking that places not catering to farangs. cleanings done around 1000 or so not sure but not more and no probs.

then after the 5 years I tried to find my 1st guy. my friend still used him after my rec and he tried to direct me to his new chit lom location but i couldnt find it. i walk all aroud inside and out of chit lom plaza no luck. i was in pain and i had a loose rear tooth. b4 ditching my search i walked into a super hiso mall next to the super high so hotel located next to chit low plaza. on the very top floor (5th) was a dentist in the back left corner. i was hurtin' so i went in to see if they could alleviate the pain at least. she did just that. i got cleaning and ackknowledgement of the loose tooth but took no action and was rec'd no action, just leave be for now unless it bothered me. 5 years after that pain came hard and heavy and i went to the fortune one, got a cleaning and was told i needed a root canal. ok now my thoughts were scam. i said no and took the cleaning. went back to chit lom and he said the same thing. oh dear. I'm stubborn and declined. finally a few years after the loose back tooth fell out and pain returned from root canal tooth.

it was now that i directed myself to bkk smile asok. these are super pros catering to farangs and hiso thais. I told her that 2 detints rec'd a root canal so she xrayed the tooth. sure nuff she shows me the locale and damage. prices were high but root canal + crown aint cheap. A wisdom tooth had been pushing on the root canal so i needed that extraction 1st...1000 baht for that. then I went for the root canal with 60% gold crown. all this was around 30K but tip top quality work, VERY satisfied. also i had them do a whitening as i never had one. forget price but reasonable and great job done. after root and crown lady rec'd removing 2 wisdom teeth leaving me with only 1. i jumped at the chance....1000/per. so all in all maybe 35K but worth every baht. top class work highly recomennded. my teeth are best they've been since i was a boy in single digits. just do it right te 1st time. dont cut corners. do your research. pay the extra

  9. Wife is the reason I stayed here after 7 years. Can't really say if I'd have remained where I am. I think I'd be bored enough to consider it had she not come along. Life is always going thru changes after a clump of years it seems; for me at least

  10. One of the reasons I brought this topic up AGAIN......is when I left the states .....(and I owned a home) my expenses were as follows.

    Property tax...........................................................................450/month

    Electric...................................................................................200/month

    water......................................................................................100/month

    garbage......................................................................................75/month

    gardener.....................................................................................85/month

    medical ins,.................................................................................750/month

    cable tv........................................................................................100/month

    telephone......................................................................................75/month

    Food.........................................................................................500/month

Transportation (gasoline, car insurance, and car payment)......800/month

    miscelaneous............................................................................300/month

    Federal Income Tax................................................................1500/month

So an average life in America ....I believe I was middle class.....cost $4935/month.....

you dont even list medical ins in your thai budget
