  1. "I have this project in my mind but I am not going to speak about it now because this government is a copy cat and is equipped with state budget for advertisement. They have even copied my first home project. So I will announce this project during the last corner in the run-up to the election,'' he said.

    ....uhm....yeah...

buying a pig in a poke.....that's what it is.

and maybe that's what it is going to be or rather have to be.

is there anything in thai language that applies analogously to that?

uhm wait, just speak it out loud....apparently one or two farmers would understand the meaning of it.

  2. hi,

i am looking for a supplier or manufacturer for retractable awnings in Buriram or Surin province.

    Korat would be great too.

in particular i am looking for a fabric "markise" style awning, attached to the wall. with a crank handle.

    any ideas?

    thanks

  3. i was in mae rim yesterday so i took these pics of the place on the way home

look for the caltex gas station : ) ..... hope you get sorted ... dave2

    can anyone tell me ....

are there shops like that one on the first picture in buriram or surin province?

    korat would be good too

    thanks

  4. I think this was a lousy preventable INCIDENT. Sorry is not good enough, walking away from it while daddy pays is not good enough. All the innocent people involved should have to be compensated, The little under aged kid should have known the penalties that she would have to face. This young lady should do some hard unpaid community service, apart from the parents big out of court settlement.

    100% agreed

  5. Right since a Cop in Thailand gets just a few Thousand Baht a Month it s no wonder...

    IMO that's not an argument.

staff at 7/11 have 28 working days and many times a 12 hours shift. they earn 4000-5000 baht with that.

when i see the blokes in uniform in my area......hanging around, sleeping, walking on the market...drunk like hell, begging bystanders for money, setting up useless checkpoints.....

i think, their salary is way too high

if there would be a proper merit system in thailand.....most of the cops would have to BRING money to the station

  6. Commander of Huai Khwang Police Station Police General Boonsong Namkorn reported development in investigation in connection with the recent raid on a gaming center on the 2nd floor of the Esplanade shopping center where inspectors from the Office of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission seized online baccarat and slot machines yesterday's evening.

i bet there would be traces on that computer.....if somebody would be interested in searching for it

  7. US ambassador discusses border dispute with Abhisit

US ambassador to Thailand Kristie Kenney visited Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva Thursday morning to discuss the Thai-Cambodian clashes.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting at the Government House at 8 am, the ambassador said she discussed the border dispute with the prime minister.

She said the US has been a long-time friend of both Thailand and Cambodia and the US government wants to see the two neighbouring countries settle the dispute with a peaceful means.

Kenney said the US government regarded that the dispute was bilateral problem of the two countries so Bangkok and Phnom Penh should return to the negotiating table as soon as possible.

man....i would kill someone for THAT cable on wikileaks

  8. A TV team is preparing its cameras and will leave soon... when will fighting start? ~half hour drive, ~half hour to get ready and here we go.... lets wait, it is now 07.15

keep us up to date and please post immediatelly after they have left the resort today.

so we have a 30 minute window to prepare.

  9. she talked to her husband the day BEFORE the first skirmish, and he said "..tomorrow there will be fighting"

here are two "fox-moulder-stories" i've heard today in ban kruat:

guy does his 90 day report at the chong chom border last thursday.

the immigration officer says: "good, you came today. tomorrow the border will be closed"

thai tv team resides in a resort in ban kruat.

saturday they leave the resort at 05:30 ... (fighting starts at 06:00)

sunday they leave the resort at 09:30 ... (fighting starts at 10:00)

seems that some people can time travel in the future

    good night

  10. Surely, it's time to ask for foreign peacekeepers. This is just ridiculous that in 2011 in Thailand, artillery shells are being fired into civilian areas.

the day foreign troops arrive here.....is the day me...leaving the country

thais don't want it, thais don't like it......sooner or later it would backfire to farangs living in this wonderful country

  11. Ricci, Ricci, Ricci,

Nice attempt at flaming (there is a difference between an organised evacuation and running away by yourself).

This was an organised evacuation. The military arrived with buses and ordered all women and children to leave. Men were permitted to stay in order to guard against looting.

You may claim that Ban Kruat is safe but everyone was taken to Non Charoem.

Oh, and our place is 18kms from Ban Kruat town, according to my odometer. As far as I'm concerned, that is 'just down the road'.

18 km away from Ban Kruat city IS NOT Ban Kruat city.....

to the north you are nearly in Prakhon Chai

to the south you are in Cambodia

to the east you are near the Ban Ta Mieng

to the west you are near Ban Ta Chong

you are talking about an area of 1000 square kilometers.......perhaps you mean ampoeh Ban Kruat...

Non Charoen is a tamboon of Ban Kruat

Most of my family (women and children) have been evacuated from Ban Kruat because of the shelling

    Your words, right?

so....if you are referring to Ban Kruat as the Ampoeh....which you mean when you are 18 km away from the city....your family was brought to Non Charoen....which STILL is ampoeh Ban Kruat. So they haven't been taken away from Ban Kruat....they are still in Ban Kruat (ampoeh)

and....if you are referring to Ban Kruat as the city.....there was no evac at all.

you....writing confusing or incorrect content.....doesn't make me a flamer

  12. Brother of GF, who lives in Ban Kruat, had shells landing in his property yesterday......

absolutely NO shells in Ban Kruat......please do not spread panic

we have already enough problems here

After trying to call all day (I'm currently in Vietnam), I've finally just managed to get in touch with my family.

Most of my family (women and children) have been evacuated from Ban Kruat because of the shelling. My father-in-law, who has remained at home, told me that our local butcher shop is no more as a shell landed on it.

My house is not in Ban Kruat town/village but I live just down the road. Regardless, it is still Ban Kruat!

You say you have enough problems already. What are those problems if not from the shelling?

here we go again.......just down the road....is that 20 km down the road?

    panic attacks ....again.....

i really do not know if we are on the same planet...

please ask member "afarang" who is living in the center of ban kruat, he may confirm "local-butcher-shop-shell-impacts"

    because i cannot.

actually i've had a pleasant day directly in the market of ban kruat.

the MOST EXCITING action today was a helicopter landing on a football field (on purpose)

but please....don't take my words too serious.....at the end "I" am the guy spreading life endangering panic again

    EDIT:

i also cannot confirm ANY evacuation procedures in Ban Kruat.

there is a difference between an organised evacuation and running away by yourself

  13. Endangering lives.

    ridiculous....

    if so....sue me

btw, you are the only one in this forum having such a dramatic problem with my posts

    :whistling:

Could be because he's there and you're noit

    again.....read(!!!) posts BEFORE replying

he and me have a distance of 6 kilometers .......

    oops.....maybe 5,8km or 6,7 km......i don't want to spread panic....

    PS:

it would be very nice if we could stop this flaming now

  14. "They are using artillery but the fighting is not as heavy as yesterday's."

uhm....yeah.....seems that they are pretty misinformed.

    can ANYBODY confirm that?

IMO the fighting was way more intense as yesterday. please correct me, if i'm wrong.

"This time we have seen on a number of occasions Thai F-16 airplanes. This time they are not just doing reconnaissance, but air support, but they have not dropped bombs," he said.

wow....thailand is using invisible stealth f-16 with silencers.....

    i thought i have heard ONE....maybe....

not sure if there were ANY planes

  15. Since 6:30 I thaught it was thunder, but Ban Kruat and Ta Muan are about 40 km...

artillery shells do not use roads ..... Ban Kruat is only 10-15 km away from Ta Muan

so when the cambodians bring the 205 mm.......better go to Prakhon Chai :-((

    (A) The Cambodian guns are NOT firing from Ta Muan. They are somewhere deeper INSIDE Cambodia. (B) Ban Kluat TOWN is more than 25 Kms from Ta Muan , as the crow flies, so even further from the Cambodian Guns. AMPHUR Ban Kluat , extends to the Surin border, The nearest village in AMPHUR Ban Kluat is about 10 kms from Ta Muan in Buriram province ,as the crow flies. NO shells have fallen in AMPHUR BanKluat, as yet. Please , do not spread panic ,by your inaccuracies. Many of us have relatives overseas ,who were very worried, basically because of misinformation by people ,such as you. At this point in time , there is absolutely NO evacuation from Ban Kluat Town. The evacuations start at MooBan Sai To Sip Tai, (Soi10), 15 kms from Ban Kluat TOWN.By road.

if you are referring to me spreading panic......you should read all related posts before quoting my posts.

i've written that others shouldn't spread panic because the cambodian artillery cannot reach ban kruat town. someone mentioned that there were impacts (which is absolutely not true).

at the time of the posting there were no shells on buriram province soil. check the news and you will see that they've found shells in chan thop phet. and i,ve never ever mentioned any evac procedures of or in ban kruat.

    WHO are you referring to?

again....read all posts before you write things out of context.

spreading confusion, basically because of misunderstanding by people ,such as you.....is as worse as misinformation.

  16. A lot of police on 24 next to Prasat directing refugee traffic to shelters but no army vehicles. As this is the major access route to the region and the amount of noise being generated by the army this seems strange. Only saw one army helicopter parked at one of the non-refugee schools. And still have not heard any jets.

i can confirm that. at Prasat Nikhom (a main access junction west of the conflict area) no army vehicles.

also no planes or helicopters in our area.

maybe the average reaction time of the Korat air force base is a bit more than 3 hours (i doubt they got any orders) :-/

  17. 10:13

    no more artillery fire...

seems that they take a longer break

    105mm not 205,, Charge 7 HE Nato Range 7miles(11.26km) :o

i doubt that they can fire nearly 4 hours without a break....with charge 7....the barrels would glow red after 1 hour

New 105mm/M913 RAP 14km They dont have this one Yet
