  1. I stay at the Canterbury Tales Cafe in soi Chaiyapoon just off soi Bauokow so not too noisy and I know they do rooms for about 9000 per month, they have a couple of small rooms for 6,500 per month and all rooms have A/C, TV, DVD player, free wifi, cable TV, dining table & chairs, electric safe in the room, en-suite, balcony etc etc.

Google the website as they have pics and details there.

  2. Soi 7 and 8 are ok for a beer but if you stay there and if you can find a decent room then you will need to be deaf to get some sleep, a friend of mine stayed there and bar fined a girl from one of the bars who stole his phone, he went to the bar to complain and nearly got set about by the girls and had to move out of the area.

  3. Yes Pattaya is still busy, all the good venues are doing a roaring trade and a couple of Teachers I know from BKK are lapping up the problems in BKK as they have been given leave from work so are taking advantage of that by coming to Pattaya.

  4. I enjoy the ribs in tequila reef soi 7, I enjoy most Thai food in many places, especially the ones where you cook your out cuts on the little table Barbie, I like a good authentic curry in the Tikka centre on soi bauhkow opposite soi Honey, or is it soi Horny.

I like the Turkish food in the Istanbul kebab house at the bottom of the new plaza opposite the big new shopping mall, I like the all day English breakfast in Canterbury Tales Cafe who incidentally have a great book exchange in the cafe, I like the KFC but its gone down hill somewhat.

  5. There is everything or nothing in Pattaya.

Meaning you can get anything you want from food, all types from cheap Thai food to a great Steak, clothes from Golf shirts which are copies but I have some I have worn and are still fine for years and were 150 baht about 6 years ago and originals are 60quid back in UK to branded stuff in the Huge Pattaya Mall.

You can go bowling, lawn bowling, shooting, to the cinema, live shows, great Golf courses at far less prices than I was paying in UK, All the water sports not forgetting the great climate, some nice day trips to nong nuch, Tiger park, koh larn, koh samet, Rayong, all not far away, also not great but adequate beaches.

Or you can sit it your condo on the 39th floor with a book and while away the days relaxing.

Its all here, you have the choice.

  6. I have recently stayed in Canterbury Tales Cafe Guest house and Bookshop just off soi Baokow.

They have clean rooms, mine was a big room with a bedroom and separate lounge, large TV & DVD player, push button electric safe, nice shower/toilet, electric kettle and free coffee/tea, A/C and 2 ceiling fans which was good as I dont like to use Air con.

A comfy sofa and a leather recliner, some free books as I am an avid reader a great bookshop and book exchange so many books it was a job to decide, The room was as big as my condo about 40square meters plus a balcony which was great in the daytime for people watching.

Also Free wifi, the English breakfast was good at 90 baht and every day a a lot of regulars who seemed to know just about everything about Pattaya so a must for newbies.

I booked on their website easy to Google and have another booking in July if anyone fancies a beer.

  7. I eat mostly Thai food but occasionally have a Breakfast in Canterbury Tales Cafe and I like the bookshop there so its a bonus, they also do good fish and chips, chicken Schnitzel sandwich, etc and very competitive too, used to go to Neeroys but his wife cursed me for complaining that the fish was all batter and small fish so that was that.

I use the Thai BBQ often as I like to cook it fresh.

  8. Pattaya Beach Books second hand bookstore is on Soi Buckhaew about 3 minutes walk from the market end.

Be careful though, it shuts for one day mid-week.

Yes I have found that this shop offers max 40 baht for a new book in exchange and Canterbury Tales Bookshop has gone as far as 100 baht for brand new books, normally at least 60 baht is the norm but in the past I have bought books at boot fairs in UK for 20p and got 50/60baht credit on them in Canterbury Tales.

I was in there recently and found they had just about every Vince Flynn book, my fav at the mo and a signed copy of Private Dancer by Stephen Leather, he is a regular in there apparently.

  9. Tiger's new movie is out: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Hydrant.

Apparently the police asked Tiger's wife how many times she hit him. She said "I don't know exactly… but put me down for a 5."

Tiger Woods is so rich that he owns lots of expensive cars. Now he has a hole-in-one.

What's the difference between a car and a golf ball? Tiger can drive a ball 400 yards……..

What were Tiger Woods and his wife doing out at 2.30 in the morning? They went clubbing

Tiger Woods crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree. He couldn’t decide between a wood and an iron.

Phil Mickelson contacted Tiger's wife to pick up some tips on how to beat Tiger!

    Some good ones Bagwan.

  10. I am sure he means the small Navy course on the way to Platualuang the big 4 x 9 hole course.

The small one has 9 holes, you can go round twice for about 450 baht, no buggies, have caddies, no clubhouse as such but ok for practice and a few testing holes.

    Good for the money

  11. Swan bookshop guy apparently died a few months ago, Diana bookshop has closed now, apparently couldn't pay his rent as too high in soi Diana, Beach bookshop has a good choice but Canterbury Tales Bookshop has vastly grown since I was there last year
