  1. This is horrible! A largely Buddhist country, suffering from religious intolerance under the name of politics, or the other way round.

This is nothing compared to what is going on in the south and what has been going on for years!

Perhaps this was a case of Muslims killing Muslims though and not about religious intolerance.

Both responses are pure speculation with the latter just showing bigotry. The report itself seems to point more to local political problems than religious in-fighting.

Or maybe the political "picture" is used to cover the possible religious tone?

    Who knows?

I agree, and my thoughts too from the moment I first read this. As in the rest of the once non-Muslim world, where Islam is making inroads, everyone is scared to say anything that will trigger the typical mad arse terrorism we are now having to accommodate. Local politics? .. or someone spat the dummy. Keep our fingures crossed that the Thai authorities will manage to play this down, whatever bullshit line they need to spin.

  2. Nothing stupid about carrying that small sum, leave the guy alone <deleted>, too many negitive b/s*****rs on this forum i think, maybe he needed it in a hurry and most probably he was watched whilst withdrawing it.

Theres loads of cctv on pattaya nua also everywhere else in pattaya, pattaya is safe in my view, ive never had a problem though i did kick two girls off their motorbike five weeks ago on 2nd rd, a young farang guy was very drunk, he brought out his wallet for something but these two girls snatched it from him on beach rd, i gave chase and when we reached a small soi near lek hotel i eventually caught up and kicked them off the bike, i didnt realise that behind me there was also some motorbike taxi drivers and maybe a plain clothes cop as when the girls were lying there on the ground the plain clothed guy gave them a few well deserved kicks around the body also a taxi driver gave out a few slaps. Thats the first time ive actually seen a robbery taking place in thirteen years in los. So in my view its safer than most other countries.

This is pure fantasy, and a waste of server space.

Just a tad pompous there Mr khunken. The report itself is nothing more than speculation anyway. And it's true that it's, well not exactly "nothing", but as yet minor compared with what's been happening in the South, which has in fact been going on for years. There is bigotry neither in stating fact nor in making the comparison.

  4. The 11mm Shell casings threw me off. Is that what they call a .45 cal outside of the US? If not, what gun uses a 11mm shell? And if it was a .45 the assailants may have had some cash as a .45cal pistol is not cheap AT ALL here in Thailand like 60,000baht+ minimum (as opposed to a few hundred bucks in the States)

... so what's your point? In the market for a gun are we?

  5. Yes, okay, the only pussies in this story are the Russians.

From what's offered to us in the original articles, I gather that the girls faught back when Russians had them by the throat. With their lives at risk, they do whatever they can to survive.

    If so ...

    1. Book the Russians for assault and sentence accordingly.

    2. Bill them for medical expenses for all four.

    3. Deport them on completion of sentence and expenses paid. Stamp the passports to deny re entry.

    4. Caution the girls with advice that it is wise to inform customers of their gender status. (They keep their 1000 Bht)

    Next !

and charge the guys in the dresses with deceptions.

"and charge the guys in the dresses with deceptions." ?? No ! Caution only with advice as I stated above. And most definitely charge the Russians with assault. There would have been no injuries to anyone, had the Russians not been physically violent in the first place.

These two Russian ego pussies will no doubt tell their story back home, to incite ideas of revenge amongst their ignorant comrades. They should not get off lightly. They came to buy sex, but are extraordinarily naive, and by the manner of their dress, disrespectful of Thai culture. They deserve to lose their money. Thailand doesn't need them.

What came 1st, the deception, scam/con or the bitch slapping? I think the ladyboys should just write it down to an occupational hazard if they are going to decieve and scam punters into something that they will not deliver (A woman). I do not condone the assault nor do I condone the scam. Yes they Russians should be charged with assault and Yes the ladyboys with the deception or let all parties walk free and cut thier loses. The ladyboys will be straight back out there pretending to be female hitting on punters and next time with the wrong sort of character god forbid it might be the last time.

The gender predicament is not by any means a scam. Sorry mate, but you have an awful lot to learn.

  7. 2 Russian guys were beaten and severely injured in Pattaya Hotel

    324.jpg421.jpg

2 Russian guys bought sexual services from 2 ladyboys but when they discovered that they were not real women, they asked for their money back but were refused. The Russians guys got into a fight, squeezing the ladyboys' necks and the ladyboys fighting back with bottles and scratching them with their nails, both sides were severely injured and bleeding.

Did you see the lady boys in the photos? Was there ever a doubt? I am not sure they could have been mistaken for "ladies" under any circumstance. I think there are some ladyboys that are beautiful, and have the features of a woman. These two do not qualify. You would have a hard time convincing me that these guys did not know what they were dealing with. How many fifths of vodka would you have to drink before you would make this mistake? Sounds like they were out for an adventure, and just decided in the end they were not up for the sausage.

btw, just a question, Is that what the Russians are wearing the normal evening wardrobe now in Pattaya ? :jap:

dam_n, it must be hard to be a policemen sometimes there if you have to deal with guys like this

Spot on moskito - my thoughts exactly.

  8. I am all for calling a spade, a spade and

    • tourist visa, not 60-day visa
    • multiple-entry non-O visa, not one-year visa
    • non-O/A visa, not retirement visa

When I was a wee lad and first started reading this forum, that third descriptor "non-O/A visa," and similar common shorthand like "non-O visa" used to confuse and mislead me.

To me: "non-O/A visa" meant a visa that is "not an O-A visa," and "non-O visa" meant a visa that is "not an O visa", when in fact the "non" is a shortcut for "non-immigrant." I used to scratch my head wondering what type of one-year "non-O/A visa" folks were obtaining that weren't Non-Immigrant O-A visas. I'm not trying to be pedantic, I'm serious. Think back to before you were a visa "expert." What did you think "non-O visa" meant?

Reads like a script for a Marx Brothers sketch. All it lacks is punctuation with a honk of Harpo's horn.

  9. A man, impersonating a girl, with the intent of tricking a customer into sex ?

    Totally unacceptable.

Reasonable on the face of it.

However, sometimes customers subconsciously want to be tricked.

Isn't this the same logic as practiced in Japan (now) and the USA of 40 years ago in rape cases? "Even though she said 'no,' she really meant yes--like most women, she wanted it.'" --therefore shifting blame to the victim? whistling.gif

I wholeheartedly agree with PaulJones: Totally unacceptable. annoyed.gif

No, nothing like it at all. No rape involved. What I meant that some straight men are curious about same sex adventures on some level, but can't even always admit it to themselves. So some of those types will be drawn to TS people to explore this.

Jingthing is right. Besides, trans gender/transsexual people can not be simply dismissed as impersonators. An "impersonator" would be the comedian Barry Humphries with his character "Dame Edna", and perhaps some lifestyle "cross dressers"

Sex industries on the scale as it is in Thailand, grow out of lack alternative employment together with gross financial inequity.

What I find unacceptable is sex tourism, full stop.

  11. Yet more bad publicity for Thailands tourist industry. These jet-ski scams have gone on for years, it's high time the TOT put a stop to the outrageous behaviour of these jet -ski operators.

Yes, but the publicity is mostly within Thailand itself in local or regional publications, so unless you follow the goings on in Thailand you don't hear of these scams...

Perhaps if someone created a list of links to a few dozen of these stories and sent them to the Associated Press, perhaps these pirates would get some international attention... :whistling:

Send it to Pegas, they bring in all the Russians and other soviets (sic).

Better, a well organised, global warning via Internet to all travel agencies .. absolute everyone, use Twitter, Facebook, everything. Organise a total boycot. Advise the tousim ministry that enough is enough, and send copies to all major News networks. Include the tuk tuk saga, then all tourists will take note. Make use of Youtube. If you care about it, I mean really care, you can do something. Preaching to the converted here will achieve nothing.

  12. I hope the police send the bill for this mans hospital treatment and his damaged motorbike to these kids parents (as opposed to the victim or his insurance company). I'm sure that the parents when faced with a bill for a foreigner in ICU at Bangkok hospital and a foreigner motorbike rental repair bill. (even split four ways) will be more than a little annoyed and teach the kids the error of their ways.

if he gets out of the hospital alive, but there is no way the Thai's will pay anything toward this unfortunate victim bills, sounds like Phuket is really a horrible place...

Now if the bill was sent to the minister for tourism (if there is such an office ) .. it may make a difference.

However, The police did their bit by apprehending the kids, but if there is no effective follow up, you end up with the Norwegian Revolving Door Syndrome - - repeat offenders scenario.

  13. pftt.... they deserve the stay at the Hiltons

Regardless of your sentiment, it is precisely the publication of views such as yours which will jeopardise the chances of a fair, unbiased trial. There is a dangerous stream of racism in Australia, and it also shows in the chauvinistic dismissal of Thai values in this forum. Not pointing the finger at you Steele404, just making a point. Whether the two are guilty or not will need to be clearly proven in court. The term 'kangaroo court' didn't just jump out of nowhere. Remember the legal lynch mob that found Lindy Chamberlain guilty of murdering her daughter?

As well as evidence against the accused, the mitigating circumstances also need to be heard. That's what due process and fair trial is about.

  14. Thailand used to be very stable politically but that is no longer the case. Every country has its problems with all kinds of natural disasters so It's difficult to weigh up the risks for the big multinationals, I wish them well with their decisions.

Relocating within Thailand would be the best option in my humble opinion.

@ "Relocating within Thailand would be the best option in my humble opinion."

Better to stay put, get the wheels turning asap, and construct dykes around the estates. Then during the next flood, the task will be to ship components in, and products out. The Thai based foreign companies affected in this crisis only have themselves to blame, so too do the consumers all over the world who want cheap cheap cheap. This leads companies to take risks, for example build a factory on a flood plane without proper defences, as well as run factories with working conditions and rates of pay that would be unacceptable in the wealthy customer countries. Such is the darker side of bloody minded, dog eat dog capitalism.

Imagine setting off on a very nice but amazingly cheap cruise, when disaster strikes. Something has ripped a whole in the very thin metal of the hull. There are no bulk heads to isolate the damage and the ocean is rushing in. You find that there are no life boats, rafts, life jackets or anything. .. only to be told as you were going down, "The ship owner didn't budget for sinking. .. Well, you wanted cheap didn't you?"

  15. " "thailands quality infrastructure attracted them" !!!............? ..... they must be talking about the pavements that belong to vendors or are non-exsistant and the wonderful spagetti-style power cables that look soooooooo high -tech !, not to mention that the cooking from gas bottles and plugs that wont stay in a socket !

.. and not to mention cheapskate foreigners who live in Thailand because they want everything for nothing, complain about visa fees, puny charges on bank transfers ... ad infinitum. You get what you pay for. Like it or lump it. You want the best money can buy? ... higher standards of everything? It's time you relocated to where it exists, .. AND PAY FOR IT.

  16. I subscribe to a couple of UK magazines, and have only had one magazine go missing in several years. i regularly get small packages sent from the UK to Phetchabun, again only one gone missing in several years. Everything I've ever sent, to the UK and Canada has arrived at it's destination safely. Maybe this "lost" post is just a big city problem.

"... Maybe this "lost" post is just a big city problem." .. and perhaps with just a dash of exaggeration.

I have had a 100% delivery rate. When the floods started, I witheld everything.

  17. these responses are a real worry - I am suppose to recieve a package I ordered from overseas - I really hope it arrives - its a present for my mrs.

Has anyone else received packages to Pataya normally?

With such a backlog of undelivered mail, you can expect a delay. If for a birthday or other special event, buy something else, and if the overseas parcel doesn't arrive in time, explain to her what happened. To worry will solve nothing. Tell her with a smile and hug, and be happy. You are lucky.

  18. hi guys, anyone know situation with post to khonkaen. I have to send the misses paperwork for visa application.

    cheers.

For such important documents, I'd be inclined to use a sign-for service even at the best of times. Khon Khaen has not been so heavily hit, but still, between you and there, I don't know. Regardless, with such a backlog of undelivered mail, until that is cleared, use a courier.
